hi folks

I'm new to flash and I need some info on a problem I've encountered.

Is there anyway for Flash to read a font from the webserver? I'm trying to create a navigation with a pixel font.

It looks great on my PC (with the font installed on the PC), however, if the view from another PC without that font, it got replace by another default font.

When I tried to convert the text to symbols, the text just get blurred.

I've tried search google for some answers but could not find anything helpful.

Flash is made like that,

when you make a movie, it contains data on fonts you have chosen,

when a movie is played by the Player, which is installed locally, the Player reads the data on desired fonts and looks for them on the system, that means locally,

in the case there are no such fonts on the localsystem , the Player replaces those fonts with others available,

now, you have obviously got to the question where you want fonts to be retrieved from alternative location, hmmmm,

server you say.... do you have fonts installed on your server?

even then... I trust the job you want to do, would be farly hard...

another possibility is to make images, there's really no need for them to be blurred,

however changing all of your texts into images might seriously affect the download speed

hope it helped somewhat

I'm using a reseller hosting account. How do I go about installing a font on the server and getting flash to read from it?

thanks

Ask your provider nicely if they will do it for you?

you should really contact macromedia, I'm not sure what your asking can be done, furthermore, because of how the player works, I don't think it can be done

as I said an output movie contains only plain text and the chosen font data, not the fonts, they are pulled from clients local machine,

funky business,

if you crack it eventually, post it please, I trust lots of folks like me would love to hear about how you did it

good luck
