I would also like to hear if anyone has had any experience with *******.com. I am currently looking for a new dedicated provider and would be intereted in hearing about any experiences.

One thing I do know is that their domain name was registered in June 2001, so they are VERY new to the hosting game.

I was interested until I found out that the servers they have may not be the most reliable or professional boxes.

I believe they use White boxes built from parts. I asked about purchasing a 1-2u box from them but they aparently dont offer that.

my 2 cents.

After thought --- *******.com does have a very nice site though.

Having spent the last week talking to Jim and Ed of *******, what can I say ? these guys are awesome.

Despite a custom configuration and the WTC incident, they were able to get my server up within 24 hours as commited, infact to be exact, 18 hours after I confirmed my order. Great stuff.

The tech support replies within an hour via email, sales guys offer great support via email and icq.

They are my number 1 provider now, and with the type of service I am getting, they will be my provider for life.

Cheers,

PS. My server is still in the mist of migration, please do not ping the current pdalive.com server for ping times as a reference for the *******.com server.

cool, thanks.

my only issue left really is the want to use plesk instead of webhostmanager also think the free support is limited to hardware/network only and not control panel software. thinking about it though.. am tempte.d

Hi padders,

I am also a customer of *******. I have been with them for about three weeks now and have had no problems with my server. Still early days i know, but it's looking good :)

They gave me a great deal on one of their servers and the support has been the best i've experienced. All e-mails have been replied to very quickly, most of them within minutes, all within a couple of hours. Although they only offer server/hardware support as standard, i have had all my questions to do with the control panel answered. They are a new company and if they keep up this kind of support they will go a long way

I have used a few control panels in the past before i settled on Plesk. I was unsure at first because i was used to the cobalt/ensim layout of control panels. Once i had a play around with the demo at the plesk website i found it to be a very well laid out and easy to navigate panel. Plesk does (nearly) everything that i wanted from a control panel and am very pleased with how stable it is.

Overall, from my experience, i don't think you will have any problems with ******* or their servers.

thanks, that is good to hear. I think they are quite a new company so getting used to the software as well.

I am going to investigate plesk. Not sure if the differences between it and WHM but the demo had me very confused.

I just got a dedicated server from ******* about a week ago. They have the BEST tech/support staff. Everytime I sent a message (about 50 of them) they happily reply and usually within 5-10 minutes. So far the service has been outstanding. The price was the best I found anywhere after 2 weeks of searching. They definately have a customer for life. Check out my services I am providing through them...misterbeans.com (hosting section will soon be misterbeans.net). YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH *******!!!

******* says they are in Seattle. I'm checking with them now (I've never heard of them before). From a traceroute, looks like they use Verio...? I traced them from both NewJersey and LAX.

I also traceroute the *******.com . As you said they are from WA. But it shows they are in Englewood, CO.
So where are they? How they are connected to the backbone.

They do a great job answering email overnight (On Friday)!

I really like the level of information they provide on their web pages, one of the most complete hosting sites I have ever seen.

Alas, they aren't willing to do co-location. Darn. And all their dedicated servers are lightweight on the RAM front :)

Guys just to add on, you can customise your dedicated server like I need, I have 1GB RAM.

Cheers,

Yes, I asked about extra RAM too - and they quoted me considerably less than the published web page rate... so they seem eager for new customers right now.
