I have 12 domains on a shared IP. I want to move one of them to a different IP so that I can install SSL on it.

This site is very active and I do not want to have any down time.

In WHM, under Account Functions/ Change Sites IP Address, There is: Warning: Changing a site's ip address may cause it to appear down from some locations until the dns has propgated to all nameservers on the internet.

Is there anyway of making this change without down time?

Thanks

maybe you can copy the account and give it the new ip adres, when you change the dns nobody will have problems when their dns hasn't been updated yet

There should not be any downtime as when you change the IP address to one from your ip pool it will automatically make what changes you need and do it automatically. I have done this many times with no downtime.

I tried that one one of my other CPanel boxes. There was a short period of down time even though the IPs were assigned to that box. The change over was not immediate.

I'm looking for a foolproof way of switching a domain off of the shared IP to a dedicated IP assigned to the same machine. This is a high traffic e-commerce site and I want to do it with zero downtime.

Downtime = loss of orders.

well, the you should try it with www2.domain.com, place the site over there and place a simpel redirect to www2. at www. after that change the ip, wait a few hours to update al the dns and then change the www2 to www........
