I have searched far and wide for a host and the more I look the more confused I get. Somebody please help! :crap: :crap:
I need:
msql, php, asp and at least 100 mg

Can someone please tell me the difference between asp and php? When I look on different hosts sites it seems as if they are two different systems that accomplish the same thing?
I am confooosed!
I was told for my website that I needed both? Did I misunderstand?

I would also like 24 hour phone support if at all possible,
as you all know, I am illiterate when it comes to these things and would like help from an actual voice.

What should I expect to pay for these items from a reliable company?

There are host's who provide both, but you may not need both. It would depend on what scripts you install on your site.

It all depends on what software you want to use. I would suggest PHP since it's more common than ASP. ( please no flame wars! ) When I look on different hosts sites it seems as if they are two different systems that accomplish the same thing? Every host is different, it all depends on what you need.

I would also like 24 hour phone support if at all possible, That will cut out a lot of hosts. If you want phone support, shoot for daytime ( 9-5 ) support.

What should I expect to pay for these items from a reliable company? These will run from $1 to $30. Price generally will indicate how decent a company is. This isn't always true, but remember: the more profit a host is making, the more they will be able to help you and longer they will stay in business. A host making $1/mo off of you after costs will not have the same quality as one making $10. Just keep that in mind.

Thanks to all who posted, I wasn't sure where to ask about hosting, I thought this was the right forum. When I looked at the other one it seemed as if it was just for resellers. I will post over there instead. Actually, you might all be surprised, not one person has emailed me about offers! :)
