I have just started out with a small php/mysql website and since i am not satisfied with my current hosts I thought I should make a switch
Have shortlisted these hosts but cannot decide
1. pair.com - no starter php/mysql, also limitation of 20 emails at one instance and 20 concurrent db connections. Do you think these are limitations to worry about.
2. bluedomino - reviews dont look good, but they have their servers with rackspace i guess
3. powersurge - again a little bit expensive, but pair.com seems to be a better value for money considering the extra space they give
Would appreciate suggestions or more hosts i could add to the list
thanks

well deciding on a host is very hard now-a-days... since there are so many hosts out there with different prices, restrictions, plans, exc... i couldnt recommend any of the ones you posted cause i have never used them before, i think you should do some good research on them, strict hosts with good limitations are most likly some of the more reliable hosts, hosts that offer more with barely any limitations are good for thier plans and not truely thier reliability... dont get me wrong i know there are some great hosts out there that offer no limitations and they are pretty reliable.
So it all really comes down to you weither you want more reliability or more bang for your buck.

jaina2,
I'm also not familiar with the ones listed. The pair.com msSQL restrictions seem tighter then another host I know of that restrictions.
You might want to use the mboard's search feature and see if you come up with some other choices.

pair.com may have slightly tighter limits, but the service is excellent, they are extremely well respected.

Do a search here for reviews on the companies you've selected
A friend of mine uses pair.com and he is very happy with them (and he's a grumpy b*stard!!)

I've used www.powersurge.net in the past and stayed with them for a couple years. Ran a tight ship at that time. Powersurge or Pair would be excellent choices. If you are concerned about concurrent db connections and such, email them and express any concerns that you may have before signing on.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
General opinion about pair is good so its either them or maybe i'll do a little more research. I'll place a request on the shared hosting forum to get more offers.

I would go with pair instead of placing a request on the shared hosting forum :)
