It seems that efreeservers.com is down as of 6:25 A.M. CST I have a friend who hosts a couple sites over there and they are down also
I did a test by going to:
http://visualroute.visualware.com/
And typing in efreeservers.com and foggys-funnies.com both are down and being reported as NO DNS I guess!
Anyone else having this!

Level3 their provider had a router go out. EFS is in the process of setting up a failover line with another provider this week so these problems wont be around in the future.

Thanks for letting me know. my friend's site was also hacked last week while at efree, no damage but they took it down and he had someone help secure the server. Not sure if it was someone from efree who did the work or another person

I thought they said they were BGP routed. At least that is what their web site says :(
How long was the level 3 router down. I am also on Level 3 and I had a sharp drop in traffic last night.

It looks like from about 3:30am PST to 5:00am PST. Substantial downtime for anyone.

For a major router outage, I'd say 1.5 hours is an excellent recovery time. Especially since it happened at night.

Alot of companys lie about being bgp routed, efree is NOT BGP routed and has no redundancy, Its nice they feel like they can lie about it.
Theres nothing wrong with not being BGP routed, but dont lie about it.

I dont think their webpage says or has ever said they are BGP routed. Its something they are working to implement this week.
It is technically possible to have a BGP session on a network with a single peering point, though it is pointless in such a situation. The more appropriate term for a network with multiple peering points would be "multihomed" rather than "BGP routed".

It used to say @ http://www.efreeservers.com/network.htm ....To ensure reliability and scalability, EFS Networks integrates sophisticated and proven technologies such as Border Gateway Protocol (BGP-4), Metro Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), optical terabit router and high-end gigabit switch. but it seams to have disappeared off that page.To ensure reliability and scalability, EFS Networks integrates sophisticated and proven technologies such as metro Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM), optical terabit router and high-end gigabit switch.Humm...

For a router outage -- 1.5 hours sucks for recovery time. *MOST* providers have routers next to their main ones that pick up the traffic once a router fails.
