Guys I have a Windows 2000 TERMINAL server

Its a P4 2.4ghz, 1gb ddr ram, 80gb 7200rpm 8mb cache server.

Now, its got plenty of speed - the line isnt a factor in this - BUT

Everytime someone tries to download from the server an individual connect is limited to around 80kb-100kb, no more than that!

Is there something about this O/S or a setting somewhere that would make this happen?

If I open multiple connections I can get a ton more "total" bandwidth out of the server, but for a single connection it goes really slow.

For example:

http://69.50.190.18

Thats a link to a 60mb file - I dont know why it goes so slow, the download speed isnt affected at all and just tonight i downloaded a file from a NON LAN server at 16.5 MegaBYTES.

Help me out, this is a pain in my ***.

Thanks

yes... much much more than 100kb

from he.net.

[root@he speedtest]#
[root@he speedtest]# wget http://69.50.190.18/
--23:54:40-- http://69.50.190.18/
=> `index.html'
Connecting to 69.50.190.18:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 62,877,922 [application/octet-stream]

100%[=================================================================================>] 62,877,922 1.85M/s ETA 00:00

23:55:12 (1.85 MB/s) - `index.html' saved [62877922/62877922]

however from my home cable i do only get only 82k/s.

i think this at least proves that its not an os issue tho.

never worked with windows, but once I saw friend configuring network settings and there was "QoS" option in the connection properties.
because I do not trust microsoft, I suppose that QoS *could* be a problem.

There is a setting in the IIS MMC that allows you to throttle connections. This might be turned on. Check it out, its worth a try.

Go into Start, Programs, Admin tools, then IIS

Right click on your site and you will see where you are able to go to the properties.

And the QOS idea from above should absolutly be unchecked for a server.
