Hello everyone,

Any comments on which host has good back-up service and prices?

I know couple of them but want to see if there are others who are better.

Please share your experience.

Thanks.

Are you just looking for offsite backups?

You could just get a second cheapo server, and do remote backups to it, either through cpanel, rsync, or a custom script.

DSD,
RSync? Something handy for backups?
Thanks,

I am looking for external automated back-up.

EV1 has $1 per GB but you have to do it yourself. I am not sure if you can just set it up using c-panel etc. to work flawlessly and automatically?

Managed.com offers 200GB weekly for $100 per month. Its very cheap if you go by per GB. But there site doesn't say anything if its automated secure back-up solution or not? Also I will ask them if you must by it in blocks of 200GB or you can buy less as well.

Thanks.

Yes, I believe it's done with FTP - cpanel has a 'ftp' backup option within it now.

I went the cheapo secondary server route, and picked up a ev1 celeron 1.7 - much more flexible. I also use rsync with a custom script rather than cpanel, as it's easier on the bandwidth when it backs up.
