View Full Version : Getting totally fed up with enom
bandari 11-15-2003, 01:22 PM Are these guys for real? Here they go trying to launch ID protect, yet another feature, when they can't get their redirectors sorted yet. This is the second weekend in a row where I have had numerous support tickets from clients letting me know that the domains they registered through my enom reseller account is not being redirected properly. It always happens at weekends and yes there isn't a soul to answer any queries when I call enom 'cause they are all enjoying their weekend.
Am I the only one who experiences these errors? 'cause I don't see any body else discussing them here?
dmaven 11-15-2003, 01:27 PM Agreed, get the basic infrastructure working before you look to new products.
Aushosts 11-15-2003, 01:58 PM Well it took enom 6 days to update the nameservers of a .com domain of ours to the root whois servers, we're transfering some stuff to OpenSRS and taking advantage of network solution free transfers. Atleast I can access the bloody control panels at these companies.
OpenSRS new manages that domain and I submited a change to the name service bang its done in a few hours.
400 domains sitting in my $6.95 email account. Thinking of moving everything.
bandari 11-15-2003, 02:19 PM I hope someone from enom is taking note!
H-U.net 11-15-2003, 04:26 PM bandari,
Chance would be a fine thing - it's the weekend remember :D

bandari 11-15-2003, 04:33 PM I have given them enough chances, this is the fourth time this particular problem has occured in a space of six weeks. A big reputable registrar like enom should have provisions to minimse the chances of such things hapenning weekend or otherwise.
JeremyL 11-15-2003, 04:35 PM Someone email them this thread and they will prolly fix it.
Bashar 11-15-2003, 08:41 PM enom support is so poor compared to other registrar such as godaddy/moniker/namescout and even resellers such as registerfly/namecheap!!
can you imagen reigsterfly has live help to their customers and onlinenic has such and even ******
Aushosts 11-16-2003, 03:55 AM Well the reseller test server is down so I can't test our API. I am going to start looking for a new regestry.
Anyone want to buy a $6.95 account?
NeonHQ 11-16-2003, 04:06 AM enom service seems to get more problematic.
VH-Robert 11-16-2003, 10:46 AM I have 0 problems with Enom. All domains are registered within 24 hours and all updatesas well. I love it!
I don't have any problems at all... Maybe because I'm an ETP?
Bashar 11-16-2003, 12:06 PM zoli, i'm an ETP and still got few problems here and there
such as renewing POP3 email packs i have to open a ticket and then wait for almost a week to get a reply and they recover the emails which was hosted on the pack
obviousl 11-16-2003, 07:30 PM I have been with enom for just over a year now and we have had no issues :)

Okay, thats going a little too far, GoDaddy and RegisterFly is renowned for being sub standard, and during the week eNom have high levels of support performance.
As discussed in another post, this seems to be very much an intermission period for eNom, one that all expanding companies seem to go through. The real test will be if eNom can make it through and not end up like GoDaddy.
So dont hit them too hard, and most importantly bear with them, we've seen nothing other then an excellent service in the past couple of years and they deserve as much.

kohashi 11-17-2003, 09:22 AM 24 hours?! It SHOULD be instant or nearly so...
Bashar 11-17-2003, 11:18 AM i think he means it functional and resolved to nameservers within 24hrs :D
UH-Matt 11-17-2003, 11:23 AM No problems with them here.
.co.uk registrations can be a bit buggy, which is why we only use them for com/net/org.
bandari 11-17-2003, 03:03 PM I know you guys who use them to register domains as part of your hosting business, probably experience less problems as you use your own DNS, but us who only sell domains are having major problems. Their DNS was playing up again today.
I have had customers wanting their money back, cause they are fed up of loing hits because of problems with enom.
I agree, i dont like enom either..
And i know that Namecheap is a reseller for enom but NC is working much better for me, i have all my domains there.

I doubt it. If enom's systems are not working whether DNS, forwarding etc., namecheap's will not work as well. They use 100% of enom's services.
bandari 11-17-2003, 04:27 PM Just got this from enom:
We've had been intermittent DNS outages for the last 4 days which were causing URL redirect issues. DNS service for a name may have been down in certain regions for minutes at a time, while at the same time, not in others. In some cases, cached information would have caused longer delays. It was very difficult to track down the problem because the issue was a) intermittent b) effected all of our 5 DNS locations in different ways and c) was combined with very heavy DNS loads. Our DNS team worked on the issue all weekend to discover that the main problem was caused by unusual DNS data that exposed a bug in our DNS server software. This data caused a buffer overrun which caused undesirable effects in the performance of the name servers. We are continuing to monitor the health of the DNS system and to proactively improve the DNS software while we gain confidence that the recent issues have been solved.DNS stability is the highest priority for our company. Thank you for your patience. This case will be closed. If you have further issues please create a new help ticket. This is to control the volume of cases in our system as well as to clear out any resolved issues from fresh cases. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Acroplex 11-17-2003, 05:37 PM Sounds like an exploit to me.
