I've got a small webhosting business...I'm really struggling to get the word out about us...I post on forums, tell folks in local areas, I've tried everything but only managed to get 10 signups...I've been in business for about 5 months now and I'm really looking for any advice on how to get new customers...we're totally lost...:unhappy:
Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks for your time everyone,
Joe

Try doing a search for "advertising" on this forum and you will see a wealth of information.
Some things that have worked for us have been Web Hosting Directories, and overture. Local advertisements in newspapers won't hurt either depending on your area.

Change from black to white. Studies show that darker colored websites don't get the sales that lighter ones do.
You said you were listed in directories, but are you listed in a lot of hosting directories (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=78078)?
Your site is not search engine friendly at all. Splash page doesn't help and when you actually get to the site, there is no text for the search engines to pick up on and actually index your site.
Your plans on the bottom shouldn't have to be clicked to actually show what they are. Hosting plans open up a new window which doesn't go with your site at all.
Basically, your site shows that you have some talents with certain things like flash, however just because you *can* do something doesn't mean you actually *should*.
BTW... paying $100 isn't paying "tons". Cheap advertising gets cheap results most of the time.
I am with Coach here on different topics.
Starting off, darker websites are a turn off to the consumer.
Next, the less you spend on advertising will be the less results of positive feedback. (signups)
Next, the plans should be visible for the consumer without them having to go out of their way (even 1 click) before seeing if it's suitable enough for them.
Next, not too many people care to be distracted by continous looping of distracting animations and or background music.
Last, try to organize the buttons to hosting directories and so forth somewhere. Don't have 90% on the left side and 10% on the bottom.
I think that should cover it. Good Day :)
