Hello Friends!

I am going to launch adult free hosting. Please, help me to find good dedicated server for $100-150 a month. Why so less? I need to _start_ my business and then I will move to more expensive server. Do you think 1,000 Gb of bandwidth is enough to start? I found several complaints about FDC, United Colo and IIC internet, and I am suffer which server to buy. Support from IIC internet answered quickly and agreed to help me installing XPanel, GeoIP, ... and agreed to move me to faster server if necessary. Wow! However, I have not received answers from UC and FDC ;( Last question, what do you think about "unmetered" bandwidth? Is it unmetered actually? I am afraid of such terms ;( I could post 1000+ galleries to TGPs and get 50-100 TB of traffic, could it be unmetered? lol

Sorry for my English, I am from Ukraine.

Have a look at ServerMatrix, they get good reviews here

Satyr,

Having firsthand experience in this field as well as several clients running freehosts I would suggest you really think this through some more. If you are serious about doing this you will be much better off investing in a solid server up front that can handle massive traffic. Then start with a small connection that is burstable... but make sure you really keep on top of your clients as there will be a lot of people trying to cheat you for free bandwidth. We have clients pushing 100 mb/s on dual Xeons, which will cost you more up front but save you the trouble of moving from a low grade server in 1-2 months. If you are familiar with the adult freehost model for traffic it is based on your clients mainly posting to TGP's for traffic. These sites all have bots that check listings on a regular basis to make sure they are still online or haven't been edited for redirects. Any downtime from a server upgrade could lead to your site getting blacklisted. If you are going to go with a smaller server to save money up front then I would change your growth strategy and plan on adding a 2nd server when you need more resources and add all new clients to the new server as opposed to migrating all your current clients to a new server. I believe XPanel handles that, but check with the programmer as it may be a custom feature.

I would stay away from capped plans running an adult freehost. If just 1-2 of your clients get some good listings from the large TGP's on the same day you can have a huge spike in traffic. If you are capped then your server will get bogged down, which in turn will lead to your site getting blacklisted. Running an adult freehost takes a lot of time and attention. Just one bad egg can ruin the whole thing for you. Try to establish a relationship with the TGP owners up front so that they may be more likely to listen to you if/when a problem does arise as many of them share blacklists.

Good luck with it as there is definitely good money to be made if it goes well for you.

Cheers.

You also need to get control to the IPs that your server is running on so you don't get your server pull offline for complaints.
