View Full Version : History Check
RedDog 11-12-2003, 01:26 PM Hey Guys,
Well, its been exactly 1 month since I posted here asking for your information on Infinity Web Services. I'm here now to let you all know how the first month went (as promised).
- I have not had any problems with the server going down
- I had a lot of mysql questions and they knew exactly how to help
- They have GREAT tutorials to help with the clientexec software
- THE BEST TECH SUPPORT I've ever encountered
- Good speeds on file downloads and uploads
I recommend Infinity Web Services(www.infinity.ws) (http://www.infinity.ws) to anyone who is looking for a hosting company that is reliable, has great technical support 24/7 and doesn't charge an arm and a leg.
These guys helped me out a lot and I think they are still offering a trial month to new users from this forum. It's definitely worthwhile to check out.
ezbnc 11-12-2003, 02:17 PM Well very refreshing to see a person that has found a good host. Glad you posted and please keep us up to date. Also nice site there bud.
I, Brian 11-12-2003, 02:32 PM 1 month is *nothing* in the web hosting industry.
What really counts is how long they can maintain their standards for.
Short-term is easy. Long-term through the good and bad is what really makes a host's reputation.

No, they do not pay me for putting their information in my signature. I have seen other members who put their hosts information in their signature and since my web site bypasstheline.com has nothing to do with this type of site/forum I didn't find a use for my info. I figured it would help out some other people to know a bit about the hosting services I am provided.
As for the one month, I am aware that it is *nothing* but to me it does mean something. I have had other sites on other servers before where I had a question within the first week of signing up and had to wait almost a week for a response.
And nukehelpers, I will keep people up to date. I will see how things are going after another couple months to see what their service is like after a quarter of a year.
They look like a steady enough ship, good to hear a nice bit of feedback.
The only thing i hate about the site is they seem to be selling adspace on their front page, and in my opinion, that's not a good sign of company stability.
MrSmooth 11-12-2003, 04:41 PM Hope it continues to be a good host for you.:)
RedDog 11-12-2003, 05:20 PM IHSL, I hope that it is not a sign of being unstable, but rather a sign of others wanting to advertise on their site. It would be too bad if they were becoming unstable because that would mean I'd have to find another host all over again.
Reality Hosting 11-12-2003, 06:25 PM I think what ISHL is trying to say is that it's very unprofessional to have ads on your business webpage.

Where do you see that? I see a link at the bottom of infinity.ws to a CGI scripts site, and that's it.
- Matt
peersignal 11-12-2003, 07:29 PM Glad things are working out for you.
Regards,
Mark

I didn't even notice that, I just took IHSL's word for it. Now that you mentioned that I took a look at the site and I don't see any advertisements either.
There's 2 ads, hostbyte marketplace, and a cgi script resource site.
If a hosting business is selling ad space on their front page, for a hosting directory, i'd deffinitely see something wrong, on many levels.
It shows unprofessionalism.
Selling ad space, especially on your front page, shows one of two things;
One; you need the cash, thus relaying the message that your business is not as successful as you imply.
Two; You're trying to make as much money as possible, in all areas of the market, even if it means advertising other hosts.
On a business/corporate website, especially in the hosting industry, advertisements have no place, unless it is directly related to your services, and even then, i'd highly advise against it.
For example, i would not advertise WHT (may aswell be a directory  ) on my front page. Nor would i advise anybody else to do so, that's not a knock on WHT, it's just my opinion that ads have absolutely no place on a business site (repeating myself huh?)

They're not selling ad space. They have a button link to a CGI scripts website - why shouldn't they place a simple link or button to a resource that their clients could use? As for the HostByte button, not sure why that's there - possibly HostByte requires a link back in order to be listed.
- Matt
mrl14 11-12-2003, 09:38 PM Just to clear a few things up:
- Hostbyte logo is there because it was required to be listed in their directory
- PayPal/Creditcard banner is there to show that we accept all major credit cards (both through paypal and through our merchant account)
We are not selling adspace on our site, however, to criticize another company because you don't agree with how they run a business, I feel, is wrong.
Thank you for concerns.
Edit: Thanks Matt ;)
In response to that, i would suggest that if a directory needs a link back, just to be registered with them, then in my opinion, that directory is not worth using.
And by the way, don't accuse me of criticizing you, as i stated "the only thing i don't like about the site is they seem to be selling adspace on their front page".
That is not a criticism, that's a statement of opinion, and actually praise as i also said you seemed to be running a steady ship.
Trying to infer that i criticized you is ridiculous, and un-called for.
Start Edit
I just signed up for an account @ hostbyte.. where exactly does it say they require a link back? as if they do,, obviously, based on my own opinions, i will not be using them.
I checked the TOS, signup email etc.. and it never even implies it, so i'm presuming they contact you after you've listed a plan?
End Edit

I like to be criticized. Contrary to popular belief, I'm know all-knowning and the king of business savvy. So I try to learn from others...one way to do this is evaluating the criticisms of others. There may be some value in their comments, there may not...but you won't know if you don't look.
My two bytes :D

Too bad you had to take this OFF topic of the original poster. I can tell you alot of hosts have graphics on their site that will link directly to their review page for that directory. We have graphics from hostsearch, hostbyte, findsp, hostchart, webhostdir. It makes it convenient for the client. That doesnt mean Im selling ad space. :(

You're right, it doesn't mean you're selling adspace, because it is directly promoting your own site.
If you'd have read my full comment, then you wouldn't have posted in the way you did.
RedDog 11-13-2003, 12:25 AM Yes, things did get a little off topic, I was just trying to update the people who helped me out a month ago when I was looking for information on IWS and their hosting history from any WHT clients they may have.
And to back up IHSL he did say that, "They look like a steady enough ship, good to hear a nice bit of feedback."
As for, "The only thing i hate about the site is they seem to be selling adspace on their front page, and in my opinion, that's not a good sign of company stability."
He is entitled to his own opinion and he should not be attacked for expressing them. However, making the assumption that they are selling ad space did lead to a very strong "hate" about the site, which was cleared up by a representative of the site.
I will continue to let people know about the services I am recieving from IWS, both positive and negative, as I hope my posts will help people when looking for information on a specific company, as I once was.

You're right, however I'm still not really sure why hosts comment on other hosts in that manner, but I guess that's something that has probably been discussed before.
My Opinion. :D
Anyhow, let's leave this on topic and Reddog, thank you for the comments.
RedDog 11-13-2003, 01:20 AM No problem, keep up the good support.
VH-Robert 11-13-2003, 08:59 AM Typical WHT.. a nice remove turns into a flame. *sigh*.
