I was just looking at efreeserver and just wanted to ask the following, this is not a crtiticism by the way, i was not sure

they state they offer you a free server so long as you go for their minimum $299 package for 200 GB... Ok no problems with that but their colocation price for the same 200 GB is $199 therefore my query is, that the server is NOT actually free yet they charge a premium of $100 for providing the server.

in conclusion i would say that if their colocation cost was $299 also, then the free server statement would be true but as it is not, then i can only sumise it to be false

As i say, this is just something i noticed and would like someone to explain it better

Many Thanks

RMartin

They are offering a lease-to-own program. You own the hardware after 20 months, which the min. package is $299 with 200 Gb of bandwidth.

All these are marketing techniques, would you really buy a server that would cost you around $2000 and provide to your clients at no extra cost ? The end point here is you own the hardware, if they were to throw in a freeserver with no extra cost, then, it would be certain that you won't be owning the hardware at all. Just rent.

By the way, why are you so particular about the 'free server' thing ? Of course, they offered it 'free' with *terms and conditions. And you do not have to come up with the upfront cost for the server in order to qualify for cheap bandwidth. Perhaps you should go through the details more thorough.

hi,

i was unaware that you keep the server after 20 months and as such the deal makes a bit more sense. however from your statement the server is not free

thank you
