8 mon ths ago a friend of mine started a Networking Course at one of those local buisness colleges.

He bought a brand new system, PIII 733 18mb ram 20 gb hd etc etc.
He got on dsl....you know, the system was supposed to be for research and work...
So i got him Win2k adv server so he could actually do some real work and experimenting.....
he bought a burner, switched to cable and the only thing this boy does is GAME.........(or goto pogo)....
Any way he calls me yesterday... "Mike, guess what i got?" now i have no idea, cause he buys lots of stuff.....
Before I could answer he tells me......./ A gig 'O Ram......:eek:

I wanted to cry.. this guy has almost the perfect system and he uses it for gaming.............

Anyone else have friends like this???

Heh.. I /am/ one of those friends. I have an Athlon 900 w/ 1.5GB RAM, and 32MB vid. I use it for basically four things. Web surfing. Answering email/support stuff. Web design (using notepad). Music - (My 200 or so CD collection is sitting in a 20GB partition on my HD in mp3 format).

I haven't gotten around to installing any of the games, yet, although from what I've heard, apparently some of them are pretty nice. :D

At least you use it for developement ( ie note pad)... I'm annoyed, cause i'm stuck with 2 486's at home.......

and I cant install dreamweaver and fireworks there.....

I have it at work, but it'd be nice to sit in my underwear :D and do some coding once in a while :D

Actually Games do need much more faster computer then work does.

For work i dont think you nees something more than p3 500 with 128 mb ram may be, and no high end Vid.

My friend just bought a P 4 - 1.5 Ghz with 512 mb ram and he also would use it for games besides work, the purpose of his upgrade was so play games better.

W2k Advanced Server is NOT the perfect gaming system. Your friend is a dork, and obviously hasn't been paying attention in class. Sounds like a young'n.

I run Win2k Pro with 640 Megs of ram (633 Celery). I don't even think I need a gig of ram.

well not young, but inexperianced..... It just makes me mad that he isnt using the system to its full potential.

Personally i would have just about every piece of server software on there for developement
