Hello,

I'm looking for a dedicated server to provide affordable web hosting. Here's what I'm looking for:

OS: Linux
HardDrive: 9 GIGs SCSI
Bandwidth: 75+ GIGs/month
CPU: 600Mhz
Ram: 256 MB
IPs: 4+

Setup: Under $100
Monthly: Under $400

- The server should be easily upgradeable - I should be able to add another harddrive and buy additional bandwidth (blocks no bigger than 5 GIGs) without paying a fortune

- Since, I will use the server for web hosting, certain problems will arise like SPAM. While, I will NOT promote SPAM and will delete any member who SPAMS as soon as I find out about it, I need the host to guarantee me that they will not shut down my server just because of of our careless members decides to SPAM.

- The host should provide an at least 99.5% UPTIME guarantee (ie. they give you 30 days of free hosting if they go below the guarantee)

- The host should measure bandwidth NOT by 95th percentile but instead by the amount we use each day.

- The host should provide its members with FREE live support (at least 3 hours/month guaranteed) and the e-Mails should be answered within 24 hours.

- The host should offer some sort of a control panel

Finally, please recommend hosts that you actually used and if you had a negative experience with one, please post it as well. The more information I get the better.

Thanks in advance
Boris

Try Rackspace.com, dialtoneinternet.com, and catalog.com
They three give support are quick to reply and you can customize the dedicated servers.

All also have control panel

dailtoneinternet.com gives 65 GB bandwidth and extra at $ 3 per GB
catalog.com - gives 50Gb and 100 Gb depending on plans
rackspace.com - you can customize plans and see what it comes to

Remember that you get what you pay for. Just some friendly advice that I learned the hard way.

It's going to be difficult to find a host that will give you all of that for less than $400 per month and still offer support.

Good Luck though.

Mike, its not necessarily the monthly cost, because thats the easy part, he's VERY skimpy on his setup fee, so unfortinuately I won't even dare put in a bid.
