I have a client that has his web design for his online store done by a certain company in Israel.
He has an almost final product but the site is extremely slow to load.
I would like to have offers from people who has years of experience with website optimizaiton for speed.

Which database does he use?
Can we get database design with all indexes?
Are you sure there is no issue of server setup and CPU load before starting to analys code and db?
maybe the images are huge :)

Im reading the page as being 50k, which although not the slimmest site isnt exactly overly large considering there is flash in there too.
There is a possibility that the problem lies more with the host than with the site itself.
performing a simple tracert tells me the site is hosted on an israeli network and there is a fairly large bottleneck at two of the hops along the way which dont resolve to hostnames. Specifically at 10.20.4.162 and 80.244.160.253 which both only responded 1 out of 3 attempts. The total link time was more than 10 seconds...
comparing that to my website, blueshiftdesigns.com which sits on a US server and im here in the UK my connection time is around 3 seconds and my host would be considered above average in terms of speed....

Not to mention nested tables, a ton of Javascript, and a tiled background that weighs in at 89K (must not have been properly optimized). Didn't get a chance to see how big the Flash file was.

Since most of us get to conclusion that there are two problems then let me ask your help for the customization

Moving the server to somewhere else is possible and probably desirable.
