Does anyone know why Dialtone uses RedHat 6.1 instead of 6.2? Is this a major factor?

Duster might be able to elaborate on this.. I think it's been discussed before.

Red Hat 6.2 was just released a couple of months ago and alot of companys are waiting for any bugs to be worked out, but weve been using Red Hat 6.2 for most new servers and have had no probs.

When I asked about this (a bit over 4 months ago), I was told that it was due to a security vulnerability in 6.2 They told me specifically what it was, but I don't remember after all this time.

But security fixes are released within days most of the time from RedHat and even if they failed DI makes their own fixes many times. There is no real reason why they should still be using 6.1 besides they may not have enough knowledge about it to support it.

6.2 fixes a good many bugs in 6.1, including some hardware compatibility issues with I believe its AMD chips but don't hold me to it.

We run 6.2 on most all of our servers and have no complaints.

Ya , 6.2 is on VDI servers and I prefer it over 6.1 myself
