Hey guys,

I'm looking for an anonymnous FTP proxy that I can run all of my FTP uploads (and occasional downloads) through without leaving a lot of trails.

I have a cable modem direct connection to the internet and I don't trust my ISP; they modified their "privacy" policy and informed me that they will store my web-usage habits for the next 15 years. This is irresponsible on their part, uncalled for, and generally smacks of 1984-style Big Brother snooping.

I found free anonymous proxies for HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS and a few others at atomintersoft.com but nothing for FTP.

Where can I find a listing of anonymous proxies I can tunnel through to my FTP upload point?

Thanks,
DW

For FTP, you use SOCKS proxies.

However, what you are trying to do is meaningless. Because your traffic goes through your ISP first before reaching the proxy. They would be able to store your web usage habits nevertheless.

the use of anonymous proxies is more for your destination sites to be unable to trace back to your real host/isp.

the only way is to change to an ISP that doesn't have such a privacy policy.

Err, FTP isn't encrypted, so an FTP proxy will not help in the least.

Even if it is encrypted it doesn't help the much. Sure they won't know your user details and passwords, but by virtue of the fact that you have to tranverse their network before you hit a proxy or any external pages/sites (read as rest of the internet) means that there's definitely an ability for your ISP to capture your usage patterns (such as the IPs you are visiting)

sprint, an SFTP proxy would help though wouldn't it :)

Not perfect but better.
