Hello,
I have spent hours reading through your forum trying to educate myself about getting my website up. Thanks for the information.

I have a couple newbie questions, I'm hoping someone can help with:

1. I would like to register the .com and .org versions of a domain name and have the .com point to the .org (which will be the official address). Everyone seems to like 000domains as a registrar, so I thought I'd go with them. They say that they don't provide domain pointing and to use your host instead. One of the hosts I am considering charges an extra $5/month for domain pointing. Is there a better way to do this?

2. I have finally narrowed my host search down to two - LexiConn.com and QWK.net. I've searched all over and haven't found any negative comments about either one (or really many comments at all about them). Does anyone have opinions about either of these hosts?

Thanks a lot! :)

http://www.stargateinc.com has url forwarding built into their control panel features for no extra charge.
And they just reduced their prices to $8.85 per domain name I believe. ;)

I wouldn't think a domain pointer justfies a monthly fee. As long as you stay within your hosting account limits, it shouldn't matter to the host.

$5/month for pointing?
Its 1second job why would they do such a thing.
I bet the pointer costs more then that account.

If it is just a pointer (pointing to the main domain), then I'd say one-time fee would be reasonable. If it is a pointer, pointing to a sub folder of the main domain, then a small monthly fee makes sense.

Thanks everyone. It wouldn't be pointing to a subfolder. It would just be in case someone accidentally typed .com instead of .org. I used a web ping tool to see how fast some websites with this host loaded, and they seemed slow ( is 80 ms slow)? So maybe I'll go with someone else.

Thanks again
