View Full Version : Pending Delete Status
CactusCounty 11-08-2003, 08:40 AM I've been waiting for two and a half months to snag a domain that used to belong to a client but they lost it through carelessness. Just to confirm, once a domain goes into pending delete, it's five more days until it's available again, correct?
niravkmehta 11-08-2003, 08:49 AM Yes generaly it is 5 days but you better ask it to the registrar from where you have registered it and also do backorder if your Domain is very much imprtant cause some time you loss your Domain cause when registry leave your Domain there are some software or people who can grab your Domain...... so it is dengerous ......
CactusCounty 11-08-2003, 09:01 AM Asking the registrar is pretty much out of the question...I've tried that route.
They registered the name through Yahoo, who used an IT company in Australia for the actual registrar and any communication with any of the involved parties has been less than helpful.
This all started when the guy who had control of the domain quit, but before he did he changed the passwords on the yahoo account, locking them out of their site and the domain. Even emails and registered letters from the credit card holder didn't help.
Not too worried about it getting snagged right off the bat...
Thanks.
bandari 11-08-2003, 10:13 AM Why don't you check pool.com's list. You can register for a free account and if you type in the domain keyword it will tell when it is expected to be deleted.
CactusCounty 11-08-2003, 10:22 AM Thanks for the suggestion. I just went there and checked....Didn't have to register but it looks like the name is going to take a day longer than I'd thought. Oh, well......They've been waiting almost a year, another day won't hurt them.
bandari 11-08-2003, 10:28 AM Just a word of advice, if the domain is a one word dictionary domain or a three character etc. some one might have a backorder on it. It may be wise to go for something like that. GoDaddy is the cheapest I think for about $18 and change.
CactusCounty 11-08-2003, 10:43 AM Nah....Nothing so special as that. Just their company name, two words that really have no bearing on each other when combined. It's doubtful if anyone has it on backorder (the only one who might've is the guy who quit, but then he would have just renewed it himself if he was going to since he had the password). If someone does, oh well. They had their chance.
nameslave 11-08-2003, 11:29 AM Since it had been registered by someone else, chances are there are OTHERS who might be interested. You may simply verify if anybody has backordered it. Frankly, if it is for business AND your client has been waiting for it for a YEAR, I won't risk losing it AGAIN (and this time, it may be FOR GOOD) but place orders with as many snapping services as your budget allows. Good luck.
CactusCounty 11-08-2003, 11:39 AM Technically, no one else has registered the name....As related earlier, the name was registered by them and administered by a guy who quit. Just before he quit, he changed the passwords, locking them out of their site and since he was the listed contact, blocking them from access to the name.
They came to me and I set them up with the .us version of the name and a new site.....I'm just looking to get them their dotcom back again.

Check "snapnames.com" and see if anyone has a snapback on the domain. If someone does, then someone else obviously has interest in the domain.

Thanks.
RMF, no snapbacks. It's not a name that anyone else would find useful, other than to tick these guys off.
