Why do you come to WHT ?

I just come because it is like a candy you cant have to much. Also it helps out our hosting site lol.

I come here to learn, and to give myself a distraction while I'm working on the computer.

I don't know why I come here, or when I come here. Just somehow I end up here. It's like someone addicted to cigarettes.

I'm addicted to (counts) five forums. Infact, that's all I do. Browse forums (...when I'm not doing that, I'm either doing homework, at school, or sleeping)

News. Once you get past the squabbling, fun times, conversation, there actually a lot of good information that appears here - both on competition, and the industry in general.

Initially it was to get a review on a host. . . then i got addicted. :nuts:

It's Education! Plus you can have fun here too and learn about the industry as a bonus. :D

It's a alright community +)

I suppose I come more because I used to read every single &*@#&^ post on this board for years more than anything, heh. Now I read a few a day, out of habit more than anything.

I remember comming to the site a year or two back and was really impressed with the level of participation.. not many forums pale in comparison to this one..

I come here when I have nothing else to do - plus its good for me to keep up on whats happening - otherwise I dont read or watch anything to know.

I come here to interact with and learn from others in the industry. Where else can you rub shoulders with industry giants like sigma [pair.com] Deb [futurequest] and even the annoying UmBillyCord [Umbillyhost.do] :D

Seriously, it's this level of interaction that I look for. Sometimes it gets a bit messy, but that's life. ;) Where else on the net is there such a large concentration of hosting companies that are engaged in this type of interaction? :)

It's also great for keeping up with what's going on news wise etc.

From reading the above posts, here is my psychiatric opinion on why you people come here.

I come to WHT to be part of a wonderful community. :D It is extremely addictive.

I came here initially to find some control panel software for my server, and someone referred me to H-sphere (which I now love!)

Then I came back, and started chatting in the "running a hosting biz" and "dedicated" and "co-lo" forums.... but then.....







I found "The Lounge"!


This place is so much better than the other forum I used to be a big part of www.umdstudents.com... A bunch of college kids, just looking for a place to bicker and banter about any and every which thing.... at least here, people have some form of consensus... that the "little people" making insane offers like 1tb bandwidth and 200gb disk space for $0.03/year are crazy...

Once here I realized how much useful information and entertainment there is here. I've learned alot here and still learn something new everytime I visit.. Even if it's to find out what OS I am, or what sort of drink I am.. lol

initially, I came here to find a host; now, I come here because I am addicted to the community... Then again, I am always addicted to forums with large community ^.^

I come to WHT for a bit of a :rofl: and to watch people :argue:

I believe you can become the smartest persona live from these forums alone.

Anyway, it's been re-designed twice now, and blue [ba-loo for us rednecks] hasn't bashed it yet, so life is good.

Him and I do get along nowadays, and I've deemed him to excel in all forms of debate, so I can respect him.

I must admit, that when I read his post on that particular thread, I more or less felt like hunting him down and beating him with a paddle. :)

I don't recall flaming your website. I though we always got along.
I do recall a conversation several months ago about the ability of a certain young host and his ability to run a hosting business.

Update: OneStopHost (account suspended) no working website.

I don't remember any animosity though. I'm just misunderstood.:stickout:

Hmn... very surprise that no one came here with the intention of bringing more customers home.... I might be the only one then. I first came to this forum simply because it was fulled of people, tons of requests, and thought "Great, here's the place to save some bucks and increase sales volumns"

I miss the "why do" not "why did". Recently come here to read and to have some laughs. I wouldn't know Taipei came out a builder taller than Petronas, China sent their first astronaut to space, etc and etc if I never heard of WHT. Though still kinda post in the ads forum, but much less than when I first came here.

i don't post that much but spend ages reading all your posts, laods of information, news, general stuff and fun! :)

BTW. I hated that "Pluck a Duck" ossie was great but hated Pluck a duck.

Sorry Doc but ever since I went to a fancy dress as him, the nickname Plucka has stuck with me. Ossie was alright, I never really watched the show that much.

just to explain ..Pluck a Duck was a segment of a live TV show that went to air in Australia once a week. It was one of the longest running shows (variety) of all time. It started off as a kids show on Saturday morning and end up a family show on Saturday night. The best segment was "New Faces" a large part of the audience (including me) tuned in just to watch new faces..

Nopw back to the subject matter ...what was it anyway

I was wondering what the heck Plucka Duck was...Thanks for clearing that up.

As for why I'm here right now, I'm sick as a dog, can't sleep and don't feel up to doing anything else so I thought I'd hang out here for awhile and be miserable....

Sorry, I should have cleared this up, I think Doc has done a pretty good job. Another reason why I visit wht, to help explain Australian culture to the world :D
