Hi
I am suing an AMD ATHLON XP 2100+ 1.71 GHZ
MY pc as many of you know has slowed down --
My processor is goign up to 100% usage alot when I just hit my start button or open up internet exploreer or some program
Is that supposed to be?
Please help how I can fix that ro do something!

it is a amd.... thats why lol. I dont know what is wrong running anything ?

run a virus scan, that's your first stop. After that, put together a firewall, then go through and get something like adaware.
Chances are you've got some sort of virus. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time a virus has crashed computers ;)

first off, right click on your task bar and click on task manager, go to proceses and look to see what is using the CPU. Start with that and you can narrow your problem down.

Um.. a small note.
When you arrive at the processes window like NewtSys suggest, clicking on the header tab "CPU" will sort the processes list so that you can spot the process that's consuming all your CPU power easier than keeping track of that long changing list.

I have a firewall and run virus checks everyday at 8 pm
I opened up my cpu proccess but dont what processes are safe to take off, can anyone help me with that.
Could anything else be causing this, like the temperature, motherboard, heatsink, thermal grease, sound card, graphic card, hardrive.
