Hi,

I'm wondering if there is something like pcAnywhere for linux?! Something that allows me to remotely run X11 and control the remote server using my local windows pc. Any suggestions

Thank you.

lol, yeah, it's called X11, X is designed to be run over TCP/IP, but I really wouldn't recommend you run it on a production server.

You could also try VNC. You can run it secure over an ssh connection.

Do you mean www.realvnc.com? I tried that but did not work! It keeps asking for xauth which I do not have.

I'd seriously advise against it for several reaons, whereas the user GUI is an instrinic part of Windows Server in Linux it is not. If it crashes or is inaccessible for someone reason would you know how to manage and fix your server via SSH?

Likehood is that if you don't know how to fix from the shell you won't from X, even with a nicely running GUI to play about with.
HummingBird make a nice client app called Exceed that can work with the GUI linux.
