Hello!

I just got a dedicated server from servermatrix.
I have had a VPS for 2 years using ENSIM, and I am new to Cpanel and WHM.

So, I logged in and I am at the 'setup server information', where unfortunatelu, I have no idea what is going on for many questions it asks me, and I can not find the correct help page to walk me through it.
Does anyone know a link where it tells you what to enter on this page?

I figured the home directory and hostname part, after that it gets a little complicated.

what is 'Main Shared Virtual Host IP'???
'Minimum Uid'?
'Master Nameserver'? I want to use my own nameserver, as I had on my VPS, is this what it is asking for?
If so, what do I update the domain what I want to use as my name server to?
'Master Cluster Server'???
'Primary Nameserver' and secondary as well. what is the difference between that and the nameserver asked above?

If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it!
Also, is there a help page for this specific task?

Thanks!

I tried that. They have nice Q&A, but no specific page to deal with the initial setup page of WHM...

Thanks though.

dnseeker, you could always try #cpanel on EFNet if worst comes to worst.

The main shared server IP is the IP that belongs to the server that your customers will share.

The minimum UID (User ID) is for what numbers the accounts will be given when created (IE: 1001, 1002, and so on).

Your master nameserver is the primary nameserver you're going to use for the server.

You're going to need to register your nameservers with your domain registar. There should be a link to do this in your domain control panel.

Don't worry about the master cluster server. Clustering is just simply where multiple servers share the load. Obviously you're not going to need that right now. ;)

Primary is the same as your master nameserver (IE: ns.domain.com), and the secondary is just that, your secondary nameserver (IE: ns2.domain.com)

I hope that helps a little. :)

Well don't you hire someone to do it for you?

I once again thank you.
I started using computers in the 70s with my Atari 800, and I know things have come a long way since.
I will never forget my first program in assemly language with the 6502.
It is just nice to se that some people are willing to help.
I wish that helpfulness could spread out.
