There are TLD registrars that have an affiliate or partner program that have the API for clients to register domain names from a hosts site, WITHOUT the host actually having to purchase domain names themselves in advanced?

I believe Enom works in this fashion, however, you may have better luck with an answer in the Domain Names forum...just a suggestion

Yes, eNom has this API.

Don't you have to deposit money in your enom account for the API to work?

I'm not sure what you mean by "without the host having to purchase domain names in advance". Enom will let clients register names from your site, but, as Reality mentioned, you have to fund your account in advance to pay for the domains.

I mean exactly what I said. I dont want to keep a "balance" or pad an account to have customers purchase domain names. I dont care about making money from TLD registrations...I only need an registrar that allows direct connection API for customers to register domain names from my site as needed, not me buying a block and reselling to a customer or 2....if there is such a thing I am not sure.

Directi has an API like that, the only problem is that you would have to *middleman* the purchase with the finances. Your clients would pay the invoice for the domain to you, then you would have to log into your account, pay the invoice with the money they just paid you with. If you set up a PayPal account just for collecting domain fees you could do it rather easy as Directi has instant account transfer set up with PayPal.

The idea of the API is that the end-user is charged for the domain and fees are taken from that purchase for using eNom's credit card system. I am fairly certain that you do not need to keep ANY balance when making use of the API. You do have to pay an annual fee of $99 dollars though (I believe).

Good luck.

I use RegisterAPI which is Doster's Instant Reseller system. They have no setup fee's and no annual fee's. You can use your own header and footer so you have transparent customer support and billing. You get wholesale rates from Dotster so you can choose your own retail rate. The customer pays Dotster and Dotster sends you a check for your earnings.
