Hi there,
i have a strange behaviour of a Raq4r installing SSL certs lately.
The SSL cert for the server is installed and works fine. Then generating a CSR for a website (yes it's on a unique IP) works alright. When i try to go to https://www.domain.com a cert warning shows up saying that the cert doesn't match the site.
Why is the cert for server.com showing up instaed of the cert from the website for which it was generated? Anybody else with the same or similar probs ?

was it a self generated cert or a purchased cert, ie: Thawte, Verisign, etc...? i suspect you did self certs for both server.com and domain.com. although it doesn't seem like it should matter if they are both on their own IP addresses.

First the CSR's where generated from us and then a cert authority signed them. Yes, and exactly that's the strange thing: Why does the server cert warning pop up (doesn't match site) on a client site when the cert should be completely different? And yes, it' looks different, at least in the control panel.

you say that the certs look different from eachother in the cobalt admin? just to be safe i would double check again. if you accidentally copied the same cert to both domains in the admin that would explain the problem.

usually when you buy a cert, the key is generated by the cert company and you have to copy and past that cert key into the cobalt admin. you can't generate a "self cert" and then expect that the purchased cert will recognize the self cert key.

I followed exactly the instructions of the CA. We generated a CSR send it to the CA and they signed it. It worked fine on other server but this one takes the pi$$ with us. :(

I can think about another problem. We might have screwed the server installing openssl 0.96b on there. Any thoughts what could have changed and what to look after?

sorry, i am not knowledgeable on software installs not going through correctly. i am having my own problem upgrading PHP and mySQL. they will not communicate with each other right now. i have had to contract a Linux programmer to recompile Apache, PHP, and mySQL for me.

Stupid question. Did you restart Apache after the cert install?

Why would you do this on a server appliance? What was wrong with the Cobalt's install?
