Hi all,

My domain transfer to stargateinc.com failed and this is what I received from NSI:

-------
Because the domain name, xxx.COM, did not meet the criteria to change registrars, Network Solutions/Verisign has instructed the Registry not to change the registrar.

Specifically, the domain name didn't meet the criteria because:

It is not in a paid status at Network Solutions/Verisign.

Sincerely,

Network Solutions, Inc.
Change of Registrar Group
-------

Anyone has any idea what do they mean? I checked the WHOIS and my domain is not going to expire until 2003.

NB: In addition, my domain name is registered with namezero, but I signed up for their PLUS member this April 2001...

try telephoning NetSol im sure they have a reason for stopping you, maybe you signed some sort of "special rate" contract that binds you into them for a predefined period.

call them though and find out would be the best solution.

i had tried transferring some names to stargateinc from register.com and they did not work.
i tried to transfer them using another company and the transfer went through fine.

im not sure what the situation is in your case, just thought I would mention that, as there is a possibility that the problem could be stargateinc's fault.

"Not in paid status" means NSI has put a hold on your domain. Once NSI sends out an invoice they place the domain name in "Not in paid status". Typically, NSI won't transfer domains 30 days prior to the expiration date. It's during this period that NSI assumes it is in "Not in paid status" because an invoice has been sent. I would contact them (NSI). This is a problem that stargateinc.com cannot control. I have had to remedy the situation at NSI.

Agree with Op. NSI won't let you transfer an expire or soon to be expired name.

You can try paying NSI the bare minimum renewal fee then a few weeks later transfering the name.
