I've been playing around with a few of them. I got them all from www.hotscripts.com. You should give them a check.

I know what you mean. I downloaded and tried out about 10 of them last week looking for a banner script for a client's site. Basically, if it was free, I tried it. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to show you because after trying them out, the client decided to go another route for displaying ads.

Anyway, the reason I haven't recommended any particular one was that I really felt that many of them worked quite well, depending on the needs of the client. The site in question is pretty small and only needed a handful of banners in the rotation, so I had chosen one using a flat-file - No need to mess with mySQL. If you have a number of ads, you might want the db. Some of them even had built in admin panels & statistics - overkill for what I was looking for, but might be just perfect for you.

Sorry my earlier post wasn't more helpful.

I use http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/phpadsnew/ I really like it. It is a PHP script and it uses a MySQL database. It run really fast and it gives great stats.

Could you define your requirements better.

I've been searching for banner serving software and it took me 2 weeks too narrow it down.

here are some of the points that I might be able to help you with.

linux based

1) billing system built in
2) tracking
3) zone placement
4) how easy to install

I found that there is one software that could handle heavy traffic sites with billing built in, zones and just about everything.
Oasis. it can be found on souceforge. it's not easy and they are doing an update to it.

for something easy try adcycle, it has a small cost. plus you can get an installer for it (50.00)

for something shareware and just a very good rotator and zone serving try WebAdverts 3.10. it good for about 20,000 per hour on a shared system.

I myself would like to here more about an ad serving software that is like Dart but not with the high cost.

It works good and it is easy

Try adcycle.com it's very fast if you install it in daemon mode.

adcycle uses a lot of resources for really high traffic sites

if you're gonna have adcycle deliver banners on each page of a forum, for example, and both the forum and adcycle are on the same server, look for some performance drops.
