What do y'all think of were webhosting is going. With the economic slowdown, I am not sure if webhosts - especially the smaller players - have started to feel the crunch. But if the economy does not get any better it will obviously get to the smaller guys. Anybody have any back up plans or plan on hanging in there until crunchtime?

I think the smaller companies that are not offering 15GB/month for $20/year packages - the companies that actually make a few dollars off of their clients - will be just fine. This is actually good, because most of the companies that are not serious will disapear.

I wouln't worry about it.
It can't keep going up it has its down days.
The big corporations are effected by this though.

There are three things that make the situation changed.

1. More and more people going to use the Internet. It is true that the economy is slowing down. But I thought the webhosting package is going to smaller and more face to the homeuser and personal who is looking somewhere really cheap just for fun.

2. The hardware & technology is growing fast. The server price is going down & also you got a lot of choice of price when you want to buy. The lower price hardware is still working well today, then small companies will be happy to get more cheapest server then can host more.

3. More and more people will have High speed Internet connection. The people will have good speed online whatever they use cable or xDSL or something. Also the main line of the world is going to strong. It is no doubt that the speed difference will be short and more people will going to concern about the price but not speed.

So ... it is my issues about the hosting market. I'm going to jump in the market with them.
G luck for myself.

There's another thread of the same name here (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4790) which may provide more insight (or not).
