I am starting a hosting company and i have no clue how to run a server. What i do know how to do is use the cp panels like the webhost control panel. Now if i have my own server for like 100 dollars a month and its dedicated will i have to do all the server maintanance. Basically what i want is my own server with a webhost cp and a regular cp so i can easily do basic webhost tasks.

Can you also explain what i would need to know inorder to have my own server.

You don't have a clue on how to run a server?

Well... I think a dedicated server is not the right solution for you, unless you get one of those "fully managed", but it will cost you a lot more than a plain, basic dedicated server.

I think you better get a "big reseller" plan with a reputable hosting company first ;)

Then you may want to take a look at either a fully managed provider (which will run you much more than $100) or like the previous poster said, a reseller.

At that price, you can get an unmanaged server..which means yes, you'll have to do the maintenance on it or hire an admin to do it for you.

The basics are:
You'll need to be familiar with the OS and how to admin a server from remote.

MrHostMaster, first off, spamming isn't the thing to do when you only have 6 posts, kthnx.

Secondly, original poster, go with a reseller account. If you don't know how to run a server, please please please don't try to learn on paying customer.

Take a look at httpme.com or unitedhosting.co.uk :)

You may be interested in a Nocster server.
All there servers are fully managed.

http://www.nocster.net
http://www.nocster.net/policy/managed.shtml

You can get cPanel/WHM for $9.95/MONTH from them also.
