I think this will be interesting. How do you all see the web hosting industry in 10 years time? At the moment there's more and more web hosting companies sprouting up, prices are dropping with quality, unlimited offers are increasing... but things can change can't they? Look at it this way, it can only get so bad, can't it? :cartman:
At the rate the internet's popularity and increased usage is growing, I think that there will be more companies, but maybe about say 100 - 200 companies will make it 'big' and have a certain amount of control, while there'll be 118.33532 billion other web hosting companies with $9.99 a year plans giving 10GB space and 15TB bandwidth a day.
What do you think? :stickout: :o

I wouldn't think that it will be that big. Now I think 10 years you will be able to get 360 GB webspace and 3600 GB bandwidth for $329.95. Just an estimate :)
I also think the market will be flooded with alot of other hosting company and kids who think they can run a company.

Hehe, interesting view there. It's no fun being a host if you're not a kid :stickout:

With the way things are right now, I can only imagine internet fires everywhere with little preteen newbies slinging pot shots at the credible hosts while trying to take over the industry. Everyone is in war, and the concept of being hacked requires that the person who hacked you is no older than 12 years of age (another preteen newb trying to take over your company or steal your clients).
Haha, how pesimistic can one person be?

ditto, except it should be "how realistic can one person be?"

True enough. I've spent the past couple minutes imagining an industry like that; rather funny visuals.
I'm imagining a bunch of preteens bickering and trying to yell technicallities, like they know what they are talking about, at the higher and more skilled people. Heh, it's very funny.

I'm imagine that everyone would be their own server 10 years down the road... but of course, that's my crazy thought...
