Hi,

this is partly a small sigh, and partly a question.

From what I've read, UnitedHosting seems to be recommended all around. But there is one small "problem" - they don't allow overselling on thier reselling accounts.

Now, don't get me wrong, I know this is something that could start a flame war, but my dilemma is this:

I have about 10 domains of my own that I host on a reseller account (for practical purposes)
I use the rest of the space to host friends and family for free

Most of these sites are small, they use less than 1GB transfer/month. If I can not "oversell" transfer, my available transfer quickly run out. And it seems like a waste. I much prefer to assign, say, 2GB transfer for each account and pay the overages. I never oversell space.

That was the sigh, now the question:

Can you recommend a good company that allows overselling of bandwidth?

Would also like to hear what you other guys think about this. Am I complaining for no reason?

Sounds to me that you don't really need a reseller account.
Why don't you just get a regular hosting account and put all those domains under it?

Because having a reseller account gives me a certain freedom: more domains, better control, I actually learn stuff.

At first I tried using a multiple domain account, but I'm not going back to that.

Hm...
I have seen hosting plans with unlimited hosting for domain names (the number of domains) with great control.
Having a reseller account does not mean that you will get a great discount or a better price. :)
About learning stuff with a reseller account - I guess you're right!:)

If you host a small number of sites I dont really see how overselling could benefit you anyway, just place a low quota on all your own sites to leave more spare elsewhere.

If some of your sites go over there individual quota's but the reseller quota is not reached we wouldnt bill you overages.

Goodluck.

I'm a bit confused as well...if you own all the sites, or they are family and friends, you can always dynamically adjust the quotas (I believe?)

Ah, that solves the problem. That will do fine by me.

Thank you for clearing that up, Matt. Guess I'll be signing up, then :D
