Am i allowed to install <insert script names here>? Do you offer an uptime guarantee? What spec are your servers? How many accounts do you put on each server? What control panel do you use? How many domains am i allowed on the reseller account? Is the account completely unbranded? Do you offer 24/7 support? Do you have telephone support? Questions like that, to see if they are reliable and to check what you are allowed before you sign up. Its no good if you wanted to say host a load of customers who use perl BB's and they ban them! Try to find out what datacentre they use and make sure its a reliable one (check on wht for people who use it) Asking the questions will also give you some idea of how long they take to reply to emails. Hope that helps t c 10-29-2003, 06:18 AM Actually, those answers are for both standard webhosts and then resellers. 1. Ask them if they are a reseller or not. (If so, who is their provider) (This doesn't mean drop the reseller and just go with the provider instead. This has ups & downs..) 2. What type of plan options will you recieve. 3. What are the methods of support. 4. Payment method options. (Make sure you are suitable with them) 5. The type of control panel they use. 6. Time period of being in the hosting business. 7. Place of their legit testimonials, client feedback, etc. (Legit testimonials are of real peoples name with either email/site link) 8. What's the link to the TOS so you can see if they fit your needs. This is pretty much all I can think of for now as to what you should ask a Reseller. Then he got mad at me when I brought it up on the forum. It was in the request section a couple of months ago. I may be off base, but i'm presuming these questions are to be pointed at reseller providers? or is it questions you wish to ask an actual reseller? Odd Fact 11-01-2003, 12:55 AM Ask about downtime stratagies. How do they communicate with you? How is support handled(phone, IM, helpdesk, forums)? Do they have an offsite support/status site? Will the install software(mcrypt, ioncube) for you? Will they make upgrades(php)? Can you use thier TOS and tutorial information? Can you upgrade accounts? Is there a charge to upgrade? Can they help you move to a managed server? Why should you chose their company over the competition? What are the future plans for the company? |
