I'm a n00b?! Well look at my posts and you will find that out for yourself. I have been viewing this messageboard for quite sometime and I see that there are alot of good people here. So after looking at everyone answering other peoples questions, and givign advice, I have a question of m own.

You see I am new to linux, I have only ran a few apps. and know a few commands here and there. I am interested in getting a Co-located server from http://www.acsdatanet.com/, which looks like the cheapest server around.

I want to run an IRCD and a Counter-Strike server off of this. I just want to learn and get more in touch with what i think is the future for me ( networking ), and *nix can help me with this.

Is ACSDATANET going to make things easy for me? Or will me server be going down daily? COnnection? Is it fast? anyone have any download figures for me?

If anyone can answer those questions, that would be great

I've been using ACSDatanet for 2 months now. So far my experience has been very positive. Clint has been very helpful which is especially important for me since I'm a real Linux/Apache novice. My box is fast - even for me here in Israel - plus others that have accessed my sites have also told me it's fast. No downtime! (I monitor my site using InternetSeer). And last but not least the price (well maybe least after all - the cheapest serious dedserver on the market). I went with ACSDatanet because of the price, but in spite of the price, support is good, connection speed is good, the box is solid. In short - highly recommended.

I tired to contact them but no one reply my email. I would like to know what's going wrong with their sales department.

Even sales department is like that I really doubt how great is their support.

Even sales department is like that I really doubt how great is their support. Clint is sometimes a little slow responding since he's on his own right now (at least last time I checked). He's having some staffing problems - although I understand that he's got someone starting with him soon. For critical support problems, I pick up the phone.

We co-located on acsdatanet.com last Friday - and we put all our users on that server for a very busy holiday weekend.

Performance was great. Not slow at all.

I downloaded a file between Weinbar and acsdatanet.com and got over 600K/second. That was a 20MB file...

Each gig over quota is $1.50 I think. Why not talk to Clint about this and see if he can't work something out for you. No use in speculating (hmm, interesting word speculating - does it come from the word speculum?).

I think I will do that, becuase I was just reading more on the rackshack.net servers and you cant run an IRC server on them? I dont know why, but you can't. I want to add another server to my friends IRC network ( that would make it 3 ) :-). If you would liek to check it out. irc.drirc.net and I'm usually in these channels #pranknet, or #team-rage.

But anywho, I think I will call up this Clint fello, and see what sort of deal we can work out in terms of bandwidth.
