Hi, How many sites could one (reliably) host with say 100gb of bandwidth. I know this varies based on the type of sites but I am interesting in hearing from webhosts what their average and extreme experiences have been. Also what seems to be an average price for 1mbps and who are the mot reliable providers. Thank you all in advance

To answer your question, my average client uses 0.7 gig of bandwidth. Therefore you would get ~140 clients in their.

To ask another one, how much bandwidth to people normally pull per Mb/s. I know that it is theoretically 320 gig, but that is only if the line is fully loaded 24 hours per day. Without experiencing serious slowdowns, about how much do you normally pull through a line.

Thanks Regier. We are just starting and trying to find the best package. I see many places offering 200gb or more standard (for alot more $$$) and wondered if it was necessary in the beginning.

That really depends what kind of clients you are targeting. On average, a website uses 500-700MBs of bandwidth per month. But you could have clients using only 10MBs and another client using 50GBs.

Yeah, it really depends on the type of clients you have. Just do some guessing and some math :)

It also depends on how you build your packages. If you only offer 1 gig of bandwidth and charge $50/gig you probably wouldn't have many members using up 10+ gigs of bandwidth :). Just price your plans in a way where you don't loose money if people use the max allowed and you should be fine.

Thank you all, you've been most helpful. I just have this fear of all my (future) customers maxing out their bandwidth
