View Full Version : Wildwest Domain Resellers - when did this happen?

I remember when i first signed up, I chopped off the url
http://www.secureserver.net to see what was there, there was nothing, or it said wildwest domains - something generic.

Check it now - it is "domains priced right". (make sure you are logged out of domain reseller account and a cookie not set). Nice generic name and logo, almost like it could just be another page on your own domain navigation.

So that means if someone mistakenly types in the urls sent for the ICANN verification (*COUGH*) they get taken to a competing site ran by Wildwest Domains themselves! This is outrageous.

I only checked it because a customer asked about a hosting deal we do not offer and said, "yeah I had a problem getting to your domain registration, when i got there, you had hosting offered right with the domain registration." DOH!!!!

From the million dollar API, to the ID number snafu, now this. I have had it. Hello enom.

And you can check these forums, I have always been a wildwest supporter and gave them the benefit of every doubt. I actually have two accounts with them even (for branding). ARGHGHGHGHGHHGHGHGHGH!!!!!

Is there one single honest company left in the world that has any common sense or ethics? Everyone always trying to scam, always trying to work every angle they can against me, even when they are supposed to be supporting me.

Hi Chet

I get this on secureserver.net..

"Sorry, the page you requested does not exist."

---------------------
I was planning to sign up with WWD, I even planed the prices considering them...

But, then I saw the Sales Fees... and then I got confused... I e-mailed today a representative but he doesn't respond yet.

So for every Domain a customer buys from my "TurnKey" site...
Godaddy gets the 2.5% from the total + .25(transaction) + the 25% above the reseller price ...?

Who's credit card is charged for that?... the customer's or mine

Thank you

You could try connecting from another ISP.

But between the 25% revenue sharing and the $99.00 annual fee, WWD sure seems an expensive proposition. That and the continuing GoDaddy database problems turned me off to them.

4Solutions(or anyone), knowing the following, could I have your opinion/suggestion...

Considering that my main business is going to be WebHosting for Resellers in LatinAmerica,...
Making revenue from Domains is not my goal, my goal is to offer my customers(Hosting Resellers mainly) the best domain price possible without me losing money nor time, which according to some WWD representative the minimum resale price is 7.75(1USD above my cost, 6.75).
So, making null(or micro)revenue from domain reselling and paying 99USD anually(8.25/month) YES it means losing money(at least those 99.00 anually)...
but if my logicall reasoning is right, instead of losing 99 anually i'm buying publicity... I mean, Having an automated site which offers 7.95domains will drive good value for my WebHosting Site, which we could see it as THE main site/company that offers those domains.

A lot here in my country don't have Credit Cards, so I have another price for Bank Deposits.. 8.95, that's where I get some revenue because I'll pay WWD for them at 6.75.(no extra fees as I'm paying directly)

I see how Enom is seen as the best option..., but how offering 8.xx or 9.xx domains to my resellers/end users is better than 7.95 domains..?
I still gonna need to pay upfront, even with Registry Rocket as a Representative told me(at least 20 domains paid upfront)

Now, I'm not saying that WWD is the best option, even for me, because all this things about "Enom the best option" is holding me back to see if I'm missing something.

My question is... Which company will let me OFFER the minimum domain price with the minimum/null money lost?
Enom, WWD, other..?

Thank you

For RR, you don't have to. Using enom since last year.

Not if you price domains correctly. Not everyone has to have the lowest domain pricing unless that's most of your biz. Domain registration is basically an additional sale to the primary hosting services for many hosts.
