Hi,

After responding questions and help, I guess now is my turn to ask.

I need to know the DNS name for .biz and .info so that I include it to do "Who Is" query in my system.

Does anybody know the CORRECT domain name server of these 2 new dots?

Thanks in advanced.

Collie.

Hello

CDOMAIN PRO SETTINGS
-------------------------------
whois.nic.info
.info
not found

(cut and pasted from my working copy)

Don't know about .biz as we are not currently planning to offer that one.

Do you mean places to search a whois *.biz/*.info ??

http://whois.biz.com

I don't think that is what he meant. I think he is looking for an open whois system like whois.crsnic.net. I am also looking for it. I only need one for .info for now, but have not been able to find it.

Anyone has any ideas?

Since those who pre-registered a biz domain still haven't got a response and the registry will goes "live" on October 15th, i don't think there is a place to search the WHOIS yet. Here's the reply i had from them last week:

All applicants will be notified of the status of their application(s) during the first two weeks of October. We will be accepting new applications for .biz domain names through September 21st, and if necessary, applicants will have until October 1st to respond to IP Claim conflict notifications. The selection of registrants will occur in the first week of October. At that time, we will notify registrars which of their application submissions will become successful registrations, and they will, in turn, notify their end-users. Therefore, we expect end-users/applicants to be informed of their successful or unsuccessful application(s) just before the registry "goes live" on October 15, 2001.

Gordon or anyone, do you know how to parse to find available .biz domains? I tried "NOT FOUND" and that does not work with .biz.

Thanks.

whois.neulevel.biz
Not found

However, its showing all domains as available including show.biz and cocacola.biz.
So its worse than useless.

You are correct :(

Everything is "available"

I thought at first that I was looking at the wrong whois, but it seems to be the correct one.

neulevel.biz is taken and thats about it.

Whois is not really intended for this purpose but most of us are stuck with it.

I agree.

I tried with whois.biz and it appeared to be working, but again, the same thing. Pretty much everything is available. Completely useless :(

I just can't believe that there isn't a decent whois system for .biz. This is totally useless. I hope they improve it sometime. Until then, we can't offer .biz domains

Aloha this is why :

===============================
Group 1:
Names for which NeuLevel received only one application and no IP Claims are currently live and loaded into DNS and WHOIS. You can view WHOIS at: www.whois.biz.

Group 2:
Names for which there was only one applicant and one or more IP Claims have been put on Registry Reserve and will go live on November 19th, 2001. These names will not be available for open registration nor will they appear in WHOIS.

Group 3:
Domain Names for which there were multiple applicants have been placed on Registry Reserve pending further legal review. Although these names do not resolve in WHOIS, they are not available for open registration.

Registry Reserve Definition:
A name on Registry Reserve is unavailable for registration and will not appear in NeuLevel's gTLD & DNS nameservers or in the .BIZ WHOIS Databases.

======================================
I have gotten 2 of my names allready and the others are being held up ;)
