I was wondering if any of you had any kind of experince with Vonage (www.vonage.com)? my average phone bill is about few hundred bucks per month and deals from vonage sounds toooooo good to miss... but am concerned with the quality of voice and support.
If anyone over here have tried vonage, then please do help me in making the right decision.
Thank you.

I've been called with someone on Vonage, and looking into it myself. The other party sounded great, without a flaw in latency or sound quality.

Do you have to give up your local carrier?

I use vonage and it's fantastic. Most people I talk to say the connection sounds better than a regular phone connection. You use it over your broadband, so there is no need to disconnect your existing phone service if you don't want to.
I love it. :)

allera, that's interesting. So it's VoIP using a headset and mic would do it?

I guess, except you use a real telephone with real telephone numbers.
It's like a normal phone service, except you connect a little phone-to-ethernet adapter to your router. Otherwise, no difference.
Call waiting, call forwarding, voice mail, blah blah blah. Dialtone, real phone number, etc etc. If you didn't know better, you'd think you were using a normal telephone service.

We also use it and works great.
Also, don't like the Residential and Business plans fool you. You can use them for either purpose. The only difference is features and minutes.
