Hello,
I want to upgrade my computer to XP From windows millennium(2000). Is there anything il have to do or just follow the instructions of the cd, or any driver information required.
I am new to this, so any infromation would be helpful.
Thank You

Just follow the instructons. Make sure you have the drivers for all of your hardware handy.

I'd recommend a clean install too. Not many people seem to know this but the 'upgrade' version of Windows XP has the same files as the 'full version' for the most part. As long as you have a disk of a previous version (or Windows already installed), then you can perform a full install. The installer will wipe your disk for you so it's fairly painless - the whole process involves only a handful of mouse clicks and a quick bit of typing.
The upgrade will take a bit of time of course, especially if you have the amount of hardware sprouting out of your desktop that I do (cameras, scanners, external drives etc etc).

Most of the drivers will be already installed when you first boot up with XP. Any missing ones you will be able to install or d/l off the Internet.

XP has a staggering amount of drivers within it's program so most will auto-install by themselves as XP finds your hardware.
I'd suggest getting the latest drivers from manufacturers websites regardless though. An example is the Radeon card installed in this desktop - new drivers were only out a few weeks ago.

Also make sure you go to Windows Update the moment after you install a firewall and virus protection as the first thing you do online, and get Windows fully up to date.

you also want to make sure that the computer that you are upgrading to XP has the minimum requirements for hardware.
I have had customers do windows upgrades to xp and they end up bringing their computers in because they did not meet the minimum specs. Their machines ran so slow that it would take 10 minutes to boot.
Also as a professional piece of advice.... uninstall any firewall and anti-virus software before you upgrade, you will run into a hell of alot of problems with them if you dont. Once you upgrade then you can reinstall the software.
