So, it's pretty expensive... Adrian 10-26-2003, 06:53 PM Originally posted by ozzie123 Remember, the price is per 1000 images (not per clicks like google). So, it's pretty expensive... Per click it definitely works out more expensive than something like google, however, I thing WHT banners would be more effective for brand building and awareness. Jon FB, good luck with your advertising campaign :) Aussie Bob 10-26-2003, 08:39 PM Originally posted by Adrian Per click it definitely works out more expensive than something like google, however, I thing WHT banners would be more effective for brand building and awareness. Jon FB, good luck with your advertising campaign :) Yep. It's more for branding over a long period of time. So you probably won't get a positive ROI on your ad_spend in the first 3mths. Think in terms of a minimum 6 to 12mth campaign. I might even throw 1k/mth this way. Yes, I'm just as shocked as you. :D Reality Hosting 10-26-2003, 09:00 PM **speechless** IHSL 10-26-2003, 09:21 PM I cannot for the life in me remember which telephone company it was, but anyway, the head of it stated that in their first 18 months, over 80% of advertising was for brand building, and was never expected to bring any near future ROI.... That's very common for all advertising/branding campaigns, where folks know what they're doing. The trick here for new businesses who have that approach, is whether their cashflow can hold out through all this branding and get them to a sustainable positive cashflow down the track. I think a lot of companies figure that just because they spend X amount of dollars on a PPC campaign, and got no major sales from it, that it was a failure. Quite the opposite, whether knowingly or not, a brand awareness program is still in place, think about it from this perspective; Joe Bloggs has major web hosting issues, and floats from host to host, being burned everytime. Now, every time joe has been to google and typed in "canadian web hosting" (just an example) he has seen your AD, but never bothered clicking it, he's going to think "man, these guys are a permanent fixture here" and either check the site out, or at least he now has the brand in mind. The trick is to analyze your exit pages extensively, and work out what can be done on your most "popular" exit pages, to keep the customer on the page, and eventually to point them towards the signup page, and after that...keep them. Well, i won't go into it any more, as i already threw it off topic ;) Added; The above makes me think of an episode of seinfeld, years ago, where one of the characters had a new dating strategy; he would conveniently be whereever the new girlfriend was, and even if she wasn't bothered about him to start with, he eventually becomes like one of those jingles on the radio, and you just have to find out more... if that makes sense to anyone.. Never stopped us before. ;) CrazyTech 10-26-2003, 10:47 PM I agree with what others have said, just make sure that if you're going to advertise here, you're ready to put some into it. Just 1000 impressions will go very very quickly on these boards. |
