SpazDJ 09-18-2000, 06:55 PM Well I had that experence before. If you want a realy easy way to do it make a blank html page and use this meta tag: < meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;URL=(Your New address)"> Make sure you dont add in a space before the word meta and <. Hope that helps Chicken 09-18-2000, 07:18 PM Not sure what you are asking Cguy? You have a domain, or a subdomain? Domain usually as: http://www.domain.com Subdomain usually as: http://something.domain.com How you'd link a domain to what exactly? Why do you need to redirect it? TheComputerGuy 09-18-2000, 07:26 PM Ok i am on a free host for this site. I have the url http://www.host,com/here i have a domain just bought how would i link to it, redirect i should say. Chicken 09-18-2000, 07:38 PM First, does your registrar (the place where you got the domain from), have a way for you to redirect to a URL? If so, this would probably be the best solution. I know that myinternet.com used to, but not sure if they still have signup forms up (they were bought out, and there's been some changes). Bn3.com offers a non stealth type redirect (it would show your true URL, not your domain), but I think some of the boys at freewebspace have services that can do this. Not sure which one. My bad memory prevents me from remembering if you go there, but I *think* you do? cbaker17 09-19-2000, 06:34 PM The previous poster was correct, since you sub host, im sure your provider does not provide you with any advanced cap. such as dns services, etc... You will need to register your name through a registerer who supports domain name forwarding then all you have to do is put in your current url TheComputerGuy 09-19-2000, 10:15 PM Well this is just a pre host for private til i go public. my addy is http://www.envy.nu/chrisdildy . But the domain is http://1800spankme.org . I only used the redirected part and all it does it link to it. I dont want that. I want a server to be that all the time. instead of being envy.nu, i want it to be 1800 all the time. Well I just better worry about the site before i get hyper about the domain. Chicken 09-20-2000, 08:32 AM You still haven't told us where you registered the domain, but I will have to assume that you cannot do redirects from them. A service like rediection.net would do the trick (there are a few services on freewebspace.net forums that some of the "locals" have developed as well, but I can't remember their URL's off hand). |
