A friend of mine used them, it was a nightmare. First, the domain was registered to them, then the e-mail for his domain wasn't working for over a month (this after his site was down for a week)

Host elsewhere

Hi,

If u are still undecided, I encourage you to find a few more web hosting companies around. You have to decide what you need and what features you required. I would like to emphasize here that technical support from a web host company is crucial.

A) Support
Even though many hosting providers has advance automatic recovery system, many faults or downtime are due to other users who are sharing the same server box resources with you. For example,

Let say there are approximately 80 website/users on a server. If a user of the domain name runs an accidental infinite .asp code loop, chances are the server will hang. In this case, unlikely the server will restart immediately. It takes about more than 30 minutes if advance system is install. For some hosting providers, alert messages will be directed to the system admin to handle.

If possible, find a web hosting company that provides you 24 hours support. In other words, if call them anytime day or night ,
there will be someone to support you. Look into some hosting reviews. Good are those that handle a problem UNTIL it is solved, not just a generic solution and leave it half way.

If you are lucky, some web hosting companies will help you to troubleshoot your development scripts and error codes.

So if you do see hosting plans from companies to companies with the same specfication, but different pricing, it could be that the extra price is partly for a good support.

A good support from hosting providers are those with a sense of urgency to troubleshoot and solve your problem immediately.

B) Hosting Specification
Decide positively what kind of hosting plans you need by evaluating
1) what is your website objectives?
2) What you intend to achieve from your website?
3) who are your audience and how you need to satisfying them?
4) how fast you need to get your website online and live?
5) Will I be selling or doing financial transaction online?
6) What are my experience the tools and features provided

Based on the simple criterias above, you can decide which features you want or don't want and how you need to satisfy them technically.

C) Speed.
Speed is an issue in finding a suitable hosting providers. The best choice u can get is one that is very near to you [ so that you can upload and perform development quickly ] and yet having an extremely fast network with high server throughput worldwide.

Most of hosting providers do provide good pricing and hosting features, but some are still lacking in support.

Remember, your website is the most visible manifestation of your business commitment or whatever you intend to show. So it is necessary to find a few more providers before you decide.

Good luck.

Hi,

My advice would be to find another hosting provider besides GNX Online. Their packages look real attractive, but I did not get AT ALL what I paid for. I was supposed to get email at my domain. After one month, the email was not set up. On a daily basis I would email their support. The response was always a typo-filled email with poor grammar, saying "it works for us, try again." It was not working and yet almost everyday this was the response. Then when I demanded a refund and rights to my domain so I could host elsewhere, my site was taken completely offline and I received no response from them at all. Finally, after threatening with a lawyer they allowed me to transfer the domain to another host. I was out the $70 I paid to setup though, and the services I was supposed to get were never provided. This place is also located in UK, which makes any communication other than email difficult. Also, their phone# in whois is invalid. On top of that, whether I would email support, sales, or gnxdirect, I would always get a response from the same guy...wonder how big of a company they really are.
