Why is that cheap? I'm assuming that is a dediated server. At EV1Servers you can a server with 1200 gb of transfer and 2 120 gig hard drives for $250 a month.

The reason it was censored has nothing to do with your number of posts.
What is your connection with them?
Forum rules prohibit bypassing filters, by the way.

Nothing yet, i use another host, 4D hosting, and even though they are great they really are, the costs for 4D is £300 per year, where the nep is £340 per year in UK sterling. So i figured id much rather have 160GB that i can resell for near enough the same price as what im paying for 1GB now.

Thats why im a little warey of them.

You should be wary. Do a search here on overselling.

DA8IWR,

Stick around a while and contribute to other post... then you can ask your question... this is the only forum I belong that is not nice to new members... but, then again, if we were, we would have a ton of spam from host trying to get free marketing by making up new names and posting about their website. It is a give and take.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Of course we are nice to new members.
Where are my manners. Welcome to WHT da8iwr.
Now, back to the point, it would be extremely difficult to offer the specs you presented at the price you quoted without overselling very heavily.
Perhaps they are a non profit organization.

Cheers for the help guys, but i dont understand what over selling is exactly, is there any way you could help me out, and tell me what exactly it is, i know its to do with the bandwidth, and its to do with assuming there will be spare space, is that what it is. Selling what you assume wont be used by others on your server.

Thanks
Ian

Well, overselling means selling more than you have.

Lets say you have a 1000mb space, but you sell 11 100mb accounts. That is overselling.

Host usually does this as not everyone will use the full 100mb space allocated for them.

freak is correct. The same method can also apply to bandwidth, as well.

So what happens if they over sell to much, who looses out on the space, is it everybody or just the last person allocated??

Well if they oversell too much, then obviously you have to hope that they can increase their resources to cover the use. If they are a reseller they would need to buy more space/transfer, otherwise they would need to look at adding another server.

So if they are charging extremley low prices, you have to ask yourself will they have the funds available to cover that if it's needed?

And even if they do, you will still either have a very cramped server meaning lower performance and reliability or some sites would need to be moved, which can be done without downtime, but obviously it's better to not get in that situation in the first place.

Probably whoever they decide to dump for using "too much system resources."

Cheers XeroMedia

So as this forum wont allow me to type there name, do you think they have a very bad reputation. For i don’t understand, if a company is bad at what they do, surely banning their name from here is only protecting them, as no body can talk about them. I just tried to put there name in again, and it was *** out. Why is this????

And could this be from over selling???

Im sorry if i seem a little thick guys, but this is new for me, as i have always used reseller accounts, with little to know problem.

If any body knows where i can get a large managed server with more than 100 GB of storage and about 10 GB bandwidth per GB of storage, for less about £10 ($16.16) per year per GB i would be very grateful.

It needs to be managed as i don’t know much about the techy side, i know CPanel, Helm, and Host Europe’s own, but thats all. Nothing about DNS or server side stuff. Its something ive never had the opportunity to learn.

Thanks
