I am wondering about something.
Distanthosts paid customer server has been down for close to 30 hours. The administrators/owners are telling all their paid customers that they are installing fantastico. Does fantastico take this long to install?
This sounds like some serious crap to me.
Then they tell us that their admins that were working on this have magically become sick and no one can put the server back online and none of the staff know what is going on. Is this acceptable for a paid customers website to be unavailable for 30 hours becuase of installation of fantastico?
Thanks,
Patrick

Fantastico takes 5 minutes to install, and doesn't require a reboot of the server or any other software on it.

Well, it shouldnt take up so many hours to install it.
Maybe it's some issue they had while installing it, hopefully they'll get their server back asap.
Best wishes.

Servers being down hasn't anything to do with Fantastico. Fantastico installation is just copying files, enter 2 SSH commands and then visit the web-based admin interface. Probably 5 minutes as most already said. It doesn't need a restart either. Guaranteed.

if my current host was down this long without telling me what the real problem was, i would be out of there quick smart!

Seems the real reason the server is down is because the credit card was declined or something so the datacenter pulled the box offline.
Not sure why they didn't tell their customers this in the first place. Always trying to cover up.

Actually, the admin had an accident and is hurt pretty badly. I understand that they run a business, but his wife is taking care of the payments and I don't blame her to not coming up quickly. They told us that it would be up by now, but still nothing though...

Looks like that at some point, a hosting company lives up to their domain name. They are being a bit distant right now.
If it is true about an admin having an accident, I am sure they are trying as hard as they can to get everything back to normal. Please have some patience.

It is true the admin had an accident, which is very unfortunate.
But I don't see why it is taking so long. All one of the owners has to do is phone up server beach sales on their 1-800 number and give them the new credit card number so they can charge it.
