NE-Andy 10-23-2003, 10:54 AM Lol... no suggestion here, but I think they should've done some researches before naming the model... net-trend 10-23-2003, 10:58 AM LEt's see....from Buick LaCrosse to Buick LaCroissant... mmm...that's a car i could eat.... sassSE 10-23-2003, 11:01 AM Reminds me of the late 80's (not sure of the time frame exactly) Bush or Reagan went to Australia and waved to the crowd with the peace sign, only to find out that was the same as giving someone the finger in Australia. phisholay 10-23-2003, 12:16 PM Originally posted by sassSE Reminds me of the late 80's (not sure of the time frame exactly) Bush or Reagan went to Australia and waved to the crowd with the peace sign, only to find out that was the same as giving someone the finger in Australia. :emlaugh: Too funny. I think it was Bush. Who else;) zardiw 10-23-2003, 12:56 PM What about the 'Focus'...ie..fukus..lol..z Chicken 10-23-2003, 12:58 PM LaCrosse is played in Canada too (as far as I know). Dumb name for a car IMHO, regardless. Seems to be to be similar to the Buick Soccer or Buick Baseball ... doesn't make sense in any country. JTY 10-23-2003, 01:09 PM Now that would be embarassing. Zshen 10-23-2003, 01:14 PM :roll2: That's pretty good. JTY 10-23-2003, 01:15 PM Now, they know why the sales people were pushing the stain resistant seats/carpet. :D tlp 10-23-2003, 01:17 PM LMAO !!!! Seems to be to be similar to the Buick Soccer or Buick Baseball Or the Volkswagen Golf? :) The LaCrosse is likely named for the city (like the Bonneville, or the Seville), not the game. Or, just because someone in marketing liked the sound of it and it tested well in focus groups -- like other names that are just made-up words (Ciera, for example). Plenty of car names that are regular words don't "make sense," especially in languages other than the one in which they originate. For example, the Golf isn't named after the game, it's in line with VW's practice of names influenced by terms related to wind: the reference is to "gulf winds." VW also had the Scirocco (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=scirocco&r=67). The name "Jetta" is derived from "jetstream." By the way, if "LaCrosse" is being dropped because it's a slang sexual reference, why doesn't the same end come to the name "Hummer?" hostpath.com 10-23-2003, 04:00 PM Originally posted by JayC By the way, if "LaCrosse" is being dropped because it's a slang sexual reference, why doesn't the same end come to the name "Hummer?" Because: LaCrosse = masturbation = can't get none = LOSER! Hummer = receiving oral sex = gettin' some = WINNER! There ya go. IHSL 10-23-2003, 04:11 PM Originally posted by hostpath.com I hate to sound stupid (too late) but I am married, but I don't get the joke... Give it a few years, you'll get it, either that, or you're amongst a minority of married couple's with kids (if you have kids... if not, ignore this :D, kids make a big difference) hostpath.com 10-23-2003, 04:15 PM Yes, I have two kids (10 and 11). I still would like to understand the joke, however! I, Brian 10-23-2003, 04:31 PM Originally posted by hostpath.com Because: LaCrosse = masturbation = can't get none = LOSER! IHSL 10-23-2003, 04:35 PM Ok, this could get wayyyyyy off topic, and apparently you have never "LaCrossed" in your life , so i'll stop right here, before this thread becomes X-Rated  hostpath.com 10-23-2003, 04:37 PM Oh man are you waaaaay off-base. I've LaCrossed literally THOUSANDS of times. In my early 20's I would have considered myself "LaCrosse Champion"! IsHosting 10-23-2003, 05:06 PM  hahah, where do they get these names?! JayC 10-23-2003, 05:25 PM Originally posted by hostpath.com Yes, I have two kids (10 and 11). I still would like to understand the joke, however! You're kidding, right? It's an obvious joke, and an old one. To paraphrase, he was saying that while you might "drive that Buick" after you're married, you're not likely to be "in an H2." Especially after you have kids. Nymix-CB 10-23-2003, 06:12 PM w00t lol This has been a joke since some months in Quebec, where I live :) HOLY CRAP we are on Yahoo! :D hostpath.com 10-23-2003, 09:18 PM JayC: Oh, I see. Well, fortunately for me my wife is more than happy to put me in the H2 on a very regular basis! From the sounds of it, I must be pretty lucky in that regard... blue27 10-23-2003, 09:24 PM I hear Pontiac is soon going to release the Pontiac Fellatio. JayC 10-23-2003, 09:25 PM Originally posted by hostpath.com I must be pretty lucky in that regard... Which I guess explains why you didn't get the joke. But I'll have to say that I only know it as a joke, not as personal experience -- being happily not married. sassSE 10-23-2003, 09:28 PM Originally posted by blue27 I hear Pontiac is soon going to release the Pontiac Fellatio.
