Hello,

I am looking for a managed dedicated server with decent support and good uptime. Anyone can share me there experience with these 2?

Thanks,
Scout

I've got a couple of servers at nocster and am very happy, they are a great vaule. I think the only real complaint I read about here is that it's a long setup time, so if you're willing to wait a couple of days, you should be fine.

Well I can speak for SM great bunch of people there. They actually care about there customers which I find very satisfying. If your a first time server buyer try them out doubt you will ever go anywhere else.

For what it is worth, I have a trouble ticket posted on October 13th with ThePlanet(ServerMatrix) that is still outstanding. If you are looking for even a semi managed server, you may want to look elsewhere.

I'd recommend staying AWAY from Nocster and it's networks. They SAY they've fixed the problems, but I've been through so much downtime over the past month it's not funny. Of course SMA will pull the usual "our networks are up and running fine" crap, but the bottom line is that their networks are unstable.

I haven't dealt with ServerMatrix (yet), though I may consider doing so when I leave Nocster myself.

Of course wolfstream has been unable to produce any evidence of this claim,...except for a monitoring report of his own server (from a single outside unknown source...), which has nothing to do with our overall network performance. He tried to claim 98.4% uptime only, or something around that number, which would mean our network had 13+ hours of downtime in past 30 days, which we all know just is not the case - otherwise there would have been 100+ posts about it on WHT, and there was not.

Once again, performance of a single srever, is not reflective of performance of an entire network.

We woud be more than happy to honor our SLA, if you would just take the time to fill out the SLA Request. We'll confirm/deny your request, based on the MRTG logs on your switch port.

I keep telling him this, but it does not seem to sink in, and he does not seem to want to do such, and would rather just complain :-(

If I had to choose between those two, I would pick SM;)

The past month or months the network has been excellent

<< The past month or months the network has been excellent >>

We wouldn't be getting a comment like that if the network had 13+ hours downtime in the past 30 days!

Our network has been rock solid the past 6+ months, except for a few minor issues in the past few weeks:

1) Verio fiber cut caused slowness in Philly area. We were not down, just slow on one other line due to GBLX peering.

2) Some DDOS attacks/flooding recently, which we took care of pretty promptly when it occured...as fast as could be expected.

There were a few hours of slowdown on GBLX and about 20 minutes of spotty uptime in the last 60 minutes due to a router reboot and an unknown reason, but other than that, there have been NO issues. I'd have lots of emails from angry clients if there had been a lot or any downtime, and I only received one about the slowness the other day.

I have had a gaming server with ServerMatrix for about 2 months. I haven't had to use support or anything yet, but I have 0 complaints. Happy customer here, and considering upgrading to a faster box to add more games...

Scout,

Best thing to do is check out what they claim "Managed" is.

Managed usually means they FULLY Manage the server for you, and you just submit tickets or e-mails to have things completed.

Sometimes you have control panel access to add, change, etc. domains.

But if they charge for configuration changes, support, etc.
It is NOT managed.
