I am considering this since Napster did revolutionize the industry, I want to see it suceed so I may sign up ;) I have mixed feelings about 99cents though. That is a a h*ll of alot for one song, if its not a hit.

I think you guys have the pricing scheme a bit mixed up...
Okay, they have a premium service for $9.95 a month where you can download as many songs as you want (If they have the license to allow you to). However you cannot burn them.
If you wish to burn them you can "buy" a license for the song, for 99 cents. However, you still cannot send them to your friends or anything. Also, if Napster does not have the license to the song you can "buy" it for 99 cents, if the artist allows them to do that is.
Now if you want the entire album to be yours you can buy it for $9.95.
Of course, I'm sort of expecting the release date to get pushed back a bit more. There are still many bugs that need to be worked out. Just today they finally released a the first new version of the beta client.

Really? There are free services that offer the download of music by artists like Metallica (used as an example)?
Any links?

Apparently the first post had an affiliate link (removed), and thus, this was just spam, it wasn't the start of a discussion.

But a discussion started - so in the spirit of whereever this discussion might go, the thread was edited and not tossed :)

I thought the $9.95/mo was for streaming music?

Unlimited Streams and Unlimited Downloads, provided that Napster has the license to allow you to download it. However, on the streaming side of things, if they don't have the license to allow you to download it, the stream is also only 30 seconds long.
