I just enabled ASP for 2 sites in my server. It's the first time I use ASP. When I give the 'ps' command, I see too many proccesses running! Is the performance of my server dicreasing rapidly? Could someone tell us his/her experience from ASP & server perfomance? Up to how many sites should I enable ASP for, in order to still have high perfomance in my server?
When I was hosting a friends site, he used ASP for his system. ASP, as with any application database software, has a bunch of processes running. I was able to run his site in ASP and my other friends site in Cold Fusion on a RaQ4 with 256MB of RAM without any noticable difference in server performance. Now, I just had two sites using applications, but I can't say how the server will perform if you are running, say 50 sites with ASP. I do know that ChiliSoft ASP uses a huge amount of system resources. High traffic ASP sites would most likely bring server performance down. I suggest you have plenty of RAM on your server (512MB+) if you want to have decent performance.
