Just an an FYI, we have not yet sold any of these units and do not take pre-orders. When they are available, they'll show up as a quantity on the website.

Are they going to have a control panel like the RAQ's?

I believe there is some info on the sun site.

The Netra does not have a GUI on it although we have tested webmin on it and it seems to work fine. We are still working through it.

Plesk has also indicated that they are considering bringing back Plesk for Solaris IF they can find the market for it. Right now there are relatively few providers hosting Netras in any quantity. IF they bring it back, it would make the market for Netras much wider.

As it stands, the box is targeted by Sun to endusers who have experience with Solaris.

I'd be curious if anyone is hosting a netra with any dedicated provider at this point and if they have been happy with the Netra.

i know someone who just signed up for a netra elsewhere, and so far it seems great. i've seen webmin run perfectly under solaris too.

i'm really excited for these machines to become available.

I believe their site says the Sun Netra's will be available Sept. 10th.

If you click on the details button for the Netra's on the top you'll see:

Sun Netra X1 Packages - Limited Availability Starting 9/10/01

It does, however, worry me a little with their inconsistencies in pricing on their websites...

http://www.rackshack.net/n-order.asp
Says $129 for 128MB RAM, $189 for 384MB RAM, and $149 for 1GB RAM monthly.

OOOOOOOPpppppppsssssss.....

Our designer switched the 384 and 1GB pricing on the one page. We'll get that fixed on Monday.

Actual pricing MAY be lower we these units are actually available.

Clarification:

We're shooting really hard for 9/10 but the date could slip just a little.
