Thanks, Ray CRego3D 09-20-2000, 09:33 PM Hi raylin ... what would be the purpose of the domain ? raylin 09-21-2000, 03:53 AM CRego3D: I am looking for a host with both UNIX-based and NT-based reseller plans. I found http://www.cavendo.com pretty good. But it seems new to this business. I don't trust it. Do you have any ideas? miami_g 09-21-2000, 06:56 AM From a business standpoint i would find no phone number posted to be fishy. perhaps you may want to purchase several accounts one NT and one Linux see how they do before you plunge. alchiba 09-21-2000, 07:58 AM raylin, I advise that you shop carefully, read between the lines and ask the tough questions. Beware of words such as "unmetered", "unlimited" and "unrestricted" when applied to bandwidth usage. Also be sure you're not reselling for a reseller, which will put you too far down the "food chain" in terms of support, pricing, etc. You may out of necessity (and perhaps good practice) resell Linux from one source and NT from another. It's not easy to find both Linux and NT expertise in the same place. raylin 09-21-2000, 11:49 AM Thanks a lot, miami_g and alchiba. alchiba, you are right. There are limitations. see their "Policy And Service Guidelines" (http://www.cavendo.com/legal/tos/) ------------- Unlimited Traffic/Hits & Server Resource Usage: Cavendo is pleased to offer our clients unlimited traffic/hits, and server usage. Unlimited Traffic/Hits refers to the number of visitors to your website, NOT the amount of bandwidth/data transfer. Your account is still limited to the alotted bandwidth/data transfer included with your selected package. ------------- But what is "the alotted bandwidth/data transfer included", not specified. I do know there are several nice redhat linux hosts (I found them from this forum), but no idea about nt hosts. Can somebody give me suggestions? Thanks in advance. alchiba 09-21-2000, 06:56 PM Originally posted by raylin Thanks a lot, miami_g and alchiba. But what is "the alotted bandwidth/data transfer included", not specified. Ha! That's one of the tough questions you need to ask! If a host won't tell you up-front on his/her Web page or if asked directly, then I'd be suspicious. I can't recall who among the regular posters here do NT virtual hosting. You might try searching the threads here. BC 09-21-2000, 07:01 PM For NT reseller hosting, you might like to have a look at http://www.webexpose.net http://www.innerhost.com http://www.windowswebhost.com All three are very, very good quality NT hosts. JoeB 09-26-2000, 08:55 PM cavendo.com is a young company reselling like many startups. Support is below par, however if you are looking for a host that will work to fit your needs they may work for you. Félix C.Courtemanche 09-26-2000, 09:24 PM You should read the message at the top of each forum Jay :flamethrower: Cavendo 10-22-2000, 07:53 PM Hello Joe, It has come to my attention that you are making inaccurate conclusions regarding Cavendo.com and our business practices. Since you are an employee of Savant Networks (according to sources), please do not post sladerous comments regarding your competition without solid evidence. Cavendo.com has been in business for nearly a year and a half. Early on, Cavendo did resell its web hosting services from several providers. This was when web hosting was not a major part of everyday operations at Cavendo. Now, with over 1,200 customers, web hosting is the prominent line of business for Cavendo. As part of a rigourous expansion plan, Cavendo.com will be building a data center in Herndon, Virginia by the end of 2001. All of the customers of Cavendo.com will be moved to this new facility upon its completion. If anyone has any questions, I will be more than happy to answer them and assist you in any way.
